on the creator's side there's a lot more tools for moderation, and the raiding culture makes it very easy to grow for real for a smaller creator.
on the viewer's side, there's tons of avenues to actually interact with the streamer through plugins, bit redeems, and channel point redeems. On top of that, you can shill your favorite streamer by using their emotes in other people's channels if you sub to them, which also removes ads.
As a free viewer though, the ad thing really sucks though.
