Originally? They were going to be the mixed branch. The first wave was going to be the full girl one, the next one the full male one and subsequently a truly mixed gen.

Remember that Regloss debuted and was pushed around the same time as HLZNTL. At that point Cover was full throttle on propping up the homos, which coincidentally was a couple months after the first investor meeting which had a lot of questions into the profitability of Holostars. So Regloss and HLZNTL were active efforts to inflate homo support. Of course now we all know how much of a flop HLZNTL was, not only was a flop but it actively hurt some of the girls so much they had to come out with public statements clarifying they wouldn't be talking to the homos lol. So after this much backlash Cover put a full stop to the original plan and Regloss gen 2 with it. I'm not sure what their plan is, they probably already have the regloss homos lined up so we'll have to see if they stick with the plan or they just merge the regloss homos into holostars. This would leave the girls awkwardly outside Hololive so if they do the later I think they should just drop regloss and merge them into Hololive like they did with Azki.
