1. Who is "they" beyond "random vague twitter accounts that shit on everyting"
2. I don't think this claim is true, I think they try to cancel everyone regardless of how obscure. That said, there's probably a sweet spot...how "cancelable" someone is is a function of how obscure vs. how famous they are. The more obscure someone is, the less people are aware of them and the less people can be recruited into harassing them. However, they're more likely to be VULNERABLE to such harassment: social media sites will spend less time checking out false reports that get their accounts banned, they're more vulnerable to public pressure because they need to engage personally with their audience more, etc. The more famous you are, on the other hand, the more people can be recruited into "canceling" you, but the ecosystem has involved some anti-cancelation protections for the most famous people (They have supporters no matter what, social media sites will pay more attention to them being falsely reported, etc.)

There is probably a sweet spot, of someone being of middling e-fame, where they are maximally vulnerable to cancelation attempts.
