The contact also implies that they've been a hassle before and that the convention was already working on cutting ties for the following year (Nijisanji did not attend Weebcon 2024).

Pretty much sums up my feelings. They started off strong with Lazulight and Obsydia to the point I only really watched NijiEN for most of 2021 because their content was that good.

There's really no way to recover from this. I've seen it happen countless times with other niche communities. Once the "normie" demographic moves on after cannibalizing your community you'll never get back the original diehard fans you chased away. All these people will slowly leave NijiEN and try their lot infecting the rest of the vtuber world while pretending they weren't part of the problem. But no one will trust them, and anywhere Ethyria goes will be universally hated. The only ones that have a chance of recovering are the people who debuted afterwards and have no real part in the drama like XSoleil, Krisis, and TTT. At most they were just unlucky.

Once Luxiem came there was such a drastic shift in tone for the branch that I slowly tuned out of everything Niji outside of Rosemi by the time Noctyx debuted.

I find it interesting, hearing from Nijifans about warning signs from the past that indicated that something was dreadfully wrong.

If there's one thing I've learned from following vtuber corpos for over three years it's that you should always assume that things are going worse behind the scenes than they seem to be from an outside perspective. In NijiEN's case things already look fucking terrible from the outside based on the experiences of pretty much every single person who's left the branch so far, so we can only imagine how bad the shit we don't know about is.

Its rather funny watching some of the twitter anti-Nijis, because they tend to forget we can go and see their likes and comments. And I've noticed a few still love Eliru, sending her hearts and hugely parasocial comments, and just purely hate Niji.

Either way, this is not a vtuber you want to trust with your heart.

Because, even if you believe Selen is the devil incarnate, attacking a popular suicide victim after seeing the reaction to the termination was simply absolutely insane, and if you don't believe that, then it was an act of pure evil.

Best case scenario, she was forced to do it under threat of something happening with her visa or 12 months of earnings penalties, but even then, she took the coward's way out to once again attack a girl who just attempted suicide.

The only rational way you could support that behavior is if you believe the company is worth more than Selen's life, especially knowing that at least half of your support is going to the company. Most of these groups will melt away when Niji EN folds.
