They had grandpa status and were seen as a path from 2view to 4view. The main problem is that Niji wanted to open Niji EN but it didn't want to invest in bilingual staff, enough staff, managers, and producers so it can actually run, and it didn't even check its retarded cunts for conflicts of interest so you had shit like the EN director shuttering projects because they competed with is main job. And when we say managers, we mean "managers" which are unironically part-time uni students getting less than minimum wage. Like holy shit, Finana could have been something good if they capably produced her as a musical talent and kept her locked out of her socials so she could stop saying fucktarded shit. Now she's just a unit of measurement.
There was a little simmering under the kayfabe when Yugo got necked but it wasn't really until Zaion was assassinated that the whole climate shifted from it's just antis shitstirring to hol' up let em cook. And well, here we are after EN ran off 5 of its strongest talents and wiped out over $12 million spent on stock buybacks instead of on the talents.

Nowadays NijiEN has slid down to mid indie and phase levels. I don't keep up with how JP's doing.

It was likely never good, we just didn't catch wind of it until later. An "opportunity" for fame is kind of meaningless if a company is sucking you dry of massive profit dividends and doing very little to support you, whether it be with obtaining legal rights or getting you merch deals, because apparently Elira doesn't have enough yet so you'll just have to wait for your turn at some bread crumbs.
