Well for one she seemed to indicate she doesn't have a clue what she'll do after Niji prior to graduating. Often this sort of talk is smoke and mirrors, but Mika being Mika it's perfectly possible she actually DID go into this "no thoughts, head empty" so to speak. that does put a question mark on if she wants to continue to stream or not, although her guest appearances in streams of others are at least a small positive sign.
That aside, another likely reason for absence - if we assume she plans on reappearing - is model wait. It doesn't look like she intends to touch her pre-NijiPL, and she only has been gone for what, three and a half months? The absolute shortest turnaround on a model I can remember seeing was about four and a half. If she didn't put an order for one prior to graduation, or did so only shortly before it, she might be still waiting.
Last possibility - she might ACTUALLY be waiting out the 6 month non-compete. Yeah, I know the lawyers keep saying those things are nigh unenforceable, and how Nina and Kuro basically ignored theirs, but Mika when graduating gave off impression that EN rules might not be ID rules, so it's within realm of possibility she doesn't want to take her chances and will let that timer tick down.
All that being said Vshojo is teasing SOMETHING right now, it's likely that something is a new member, so it's perfectly possible all this will be moot by the end of the week.

Yes, going indie is fine and going VShojo is even better. She's got 2 extremely close friends there from her Niji days already (Mata and Kuro) while also being friends with Geega, Zen, Haruka, and Froot. VShojo also doesn't have any Indo streamers at the moment aside from Kuro, but that's supposed to only be temporary so that'd be a first for them in a pretty big market. Let me tell you that Holo ID is now in a stagnation. Just as Kobo failed to maintain her huge fanbase, most of ID boom that happened in 2022 have left the Holo ID fanbase altogether, most likely because she does too many collabs with Holostars. The other IDs have already been stagnated at the same time as EN market oversaturation because they pander too much to EN fanbase. Only Kaela has seen some growth but that's because she's currently leeching Bijou, it will fade soon enough just like Moona.

What if Mika join the Holo ID? That would be bad for Holo ID. Mika is going to be just another EN-pandering member, while she might make some good money in short term, she will end up just like most of her senpais. That's not a good thing for corporate like Hololive, they need growth.
What ID4 needs is another Kobo, local-pandering vtubers who can ensure growth of the local fanbase because Indonesia is a growing economy, it will become valuable sometime in the future.

Let me tell you that even if Holo ID is stagnated, that's not the case with the ID market. Some indies are growing and have more ccv than Holo IDs, and some new smaller corpos can capture the fujo market untouched by Hololive.

Basically the big assumption is: she's working on a redebut. She's big enough to sustain herself, she's got an audience eager to see her back, and she enjoys streaming. The only question is when and where. VShojo's been teasing SOMETHING and it's entirely possible that these teases are going to end with Mika resurfacing in VShojo. Given that VShojo teasing new members tend to debut 1 week after the initial tease my assumption right now is we'll see a third teaser on Wednesday, and that will give us a date for the actual debut on Saturday.

As for if it's going to be Mika? I mean, it certainly seems possible. Scheduling her debut to take place on 4/20 is absolutely something she would do for a meme, and there's little reason to think it's Doki or Mint I'd give Mint until the end of Summer, though. There's also some other interesting details. One of Mika's biggest fanartists was a guy who went by Radish, and Matara has consistently kept him close to her since her debut. Radish also seems to be in touch with Mika to some degree and implied he knows that she's going to come back, but said nothing else. And the big kicker is that Kuro's been practicing chess recently on stream, and he has like 3 friends added on Chess.com. One of them is a mysterious person who lives in Indonesia who happens to have a name similar to Mika's PL. This Indonesian who's Kuro's friend also just so happens to be friends with Gunrun of all people.
