- Ogey calibur sign ups are still open until the 19th. 25 spots have been taken so far out of 50
- Anon discovers fubuki's 5H is a good move to use against someone outside of just the ERROR boss
- Dev anon continues to damn sakurai and his team for melee as he continues on his journey to make his game
- Is soul calibur a dead franchise? Others chime in saying 3 was actually good
- Multiversus gameplay released. Game is actually slower then anything sakurai could make
- Mimya will host a granblue tournament at some point
- Dev san creates his own tile system because gamemaker's version is ass
- Saturday May 18, new SF6 tournament between streamers. The confirmed chubas are Karubi and Hinano. Mokou and Iori Moe will also be there.
More participants are still to be decided, it will be a tournament between 8 competitors. Haitani, Shuto, Dogura and Kosuke will be on commentary.

Just to report that Subaru returned to SF6 a week ago after spending almost a month without playing the game, this due to tendonitis that affected her, as explained in an Oha Shuba. She has new and better combos, although the lack of practice affected her a bit on defense. She fell back to diamond 1 again after being at 2, but has been consistent playing at least 3 hours almost every day.

Had to spend the day repairing my computer, so I just continued to read Daigo's book.
I like the fact that he says he is basically a retard and that he only got where he was because he worked hard.
Also an interesting note he also says you shouldn't train more than three hours a day, but to make them count. Instead of half assed practicing combos while watching vtubers maybe I should focus on what im doing...

Likewise, I can add that Towa played a little more alone after the TOP tournament and is already in gold 5. Akí and Dtto have not played the game again after the shishiro cup. It's a grab he gets to use out his soaring stance where he swoops in on you like a real bird. He can throw you in either direction for stuff like sideswaps and combo extensions. It's like a divekick in grab form. It's actually pretty medicated since throwing out carelessly leaves you liable to getting hit by Pokken's equivalent to a counter and the game has a universal anti-air option.

so three things
1- joined the discord from my local region, but no one is playing
2- Spent all days watching replays, at the beginning i did not see a pattern at all and I started to think I was wasting my time, but then I figured out a method: instead of trying to find *something* , I would just try to keep track of things: how many times they jump, how many DP on wake up, etcetera.
3- On that vein, I am currently stalking/ watching replays of the top modern juri in the world https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U0lMUV63cQ, and after what was almost infinite rewatches I finally found a weakpoint:
He never jumps/dive kick in neutral, ever, except when he is in burn out, and he uses it as replacement for his lack of drive rush.
Not going to lie, when I discovered this I was in ectasis: it felt like all those hours didnt go to a waste.
As a project I want to break this person's flowchart as much as I can, then kick his ass on the battlehub. If I do that maybe I can do the same to sophie and finally win

Juri anon report of the day

Another day of watching replays, for the most part.
I am right now just trying to memorize what people do on wake up, and try to import that habit into actual matches.
So basically I try to keep count on my head of how many times a person parried, or did dp, or super.
I feel like... I have been playing on a way that I pay no attention to the other person. I have a routine and tactics but I never try to memorize what they have been doing before until now.
It's hard. Sometimes the match ends and I realize I stopped counting.
My objective is to build enough discipline so I do it automatically without having to think it but I dont even know if that is possible for humans. I think about card counters in poker and having to keep track of how many cards are in the table so far except there is an unlimited amount of dps a person can throw.
I'm not 100% sure of what im doing here but at least if I develop this skill it will definitively be transferable to other games which is the important part.
I will have to ask, how about you guys? How do you keep track of patterns?

I think the note thing is less important for street than for tekken since there are less knowledge checks
I only have one note that says FUCK GUILE
Rather than that, I have notes on specific people
"this guy does this and that" and "this guy usually opens with this" since I will inevitably find him in ranked again seems like the logical thing

Paying attention on people makes me sad, there are guys I met on my way up that are still plat back when I started playing months ago. I have met them going up countless of times so far with different characters and now I meet them when playing the random slot.
This is a bit important to me because at least it shows I am progressing, I still feel like im garbage but now with a bunch of gimmicks.
I wonder if I will ever believe honestly that Im good.

I still need to get better at remembering most of people's habits. But for now I mainly just focus on their pattern in reaction to my attacks. Like if I see that in recovery, they usually block low, so I know to go for a mid when I use my heat burst on them.

When i dont want to do something in my life, I usually just sit doing nothing with the thing i am refusing to do in front of me until i am so bored by doing nothing i start doing it out of my own will. Sometimes it takes longer depending on how much i dread it but the key is to never force me to do anything, rather, to put me on a situation where there is nothing else i can do but that. I figured out i could apply that to the "boring" aspects of fighting games too.

I will now apply what i learned from seeking pattern in others to see if i can find patterns on myself, and change that too

Dev report: minor bout of depression, but also I think I might need to buff certain aspects of recoveries. Gura’s up special kinda of doesn’t go anywhere compared to how it used to, and I like the frame data so I might just make it go faster. Mococo is kind of toast if you’re low enough, so I might make her fspecial not go into freefall. I think the chicken and the other dog are fine.

I've never really thought about watching my own replays. Most of the time I focus on just optimizing my combo and going either offensive or defensive. Think when I used to play league I would watch pros play my character and learned from how they handle the lane. This was long ass time ago though, now when I watch pros play fightan I sort of just turn my brain off and just pick out the dumb things they do but not actually absorb the way the play

No burnout, it’s other things. And… no, no breaks. It’s a source of fun.

It depends on the tether and how they’re handled. In melee and brawl, tethers were short-ranged and didn’t target occupied ledges, making the characters that had them utterly useless. Project + improved on the concept by making it so that tethers could hook onto an occupied ledge, but would immediately bounce off in something like aerial grab release or rather something that looks like modern smash’s ledge trumping. That worked as a bandaid solution between completely pointless and overpowered recoveries.
I think what I’d do is something similar. If you’re tethering to an occupied ledge, immediately do your ledge jump. However, if the person occupying it is still intangible (i.e they would’ve pulled off a successful ledgehog) do it at a lower height, with slower actionability, and with no intangibility. This would allow for followups by the guarding player but not make it so predictable and disadvantageous that the recovering Ina is cooked.

She focuses a whole lot on grappling and trapping, as well as using small vs big range with taps/holds. The recovery is the main thing I’m swapping around. Basically she has two ways to tether to ledge, two ways to grapple to the stage, and a couple command grabs to snag people from far away. The up special change ditches a weird holdover from when I wasn’t sure how to implement grapples.
