No. Is impossible to be popular and universally liked. The moment you get any fraction of success you gain haters... is in the nature of things. Suisei at this point, can be considered the top Vsinger in the industry. By all the metrics she is the most successful. So at this stage, she has an army of haters. So... yeah... Marine has popular music, but she is not music-focused, like Suisei, she is still in a phase where she doesn't take herself too seriously - thou she did start to take music more seriously in the past year. Even so, Marine still feels more like an entertainer than a musician. Where Suisei take herself into serious as a musician. And while Marine had a couple of big hits, over all Suisei is just more accomplished. For example, Suisei has 1.25 million monthly listeners on Spotify. The 2nd most listened vtuber from what I know, is Mori with 425k or so. Most vtubers focused on music are at or bellow 100k. Suisei has 2 albums, an EP, held solo concert, went to First Take. Is second only to Mori when it comes to industry collaborations, without even being signed with a label. And when you look at her discography she is overall more successful. She also appeals to a more diverse and mainstream audience, while Marine is more Otaku/Utaite oriented. I love Marine's voice and music, but I don't think she has universal appeal.

she will, I beleeb. those first impressions you talk about are still fairly limited, and I believe this because when I read some comments on Suisei's TFT video and now recently the Bibbidiba MV, there were many many comments saying they knew jack shit about her or never heard of her but that she was good. this leads me to believe that Marine despite being massive and the biggest JP vtuber still has the chance to make a first impression on a huge audience that hasn't really seen her. even if she's inherently more otaku oriented, she has a likeable enough personality that she may shine through those non otaku people anyway.
