What is /asp/?
A thread where we discuss our vtuber aspirations! Whether it's agency-based or independent, let's help each other grow and make it as entertainers. Indies are welcome to join, but shill responsibly. Share what knowledge, insights, what works/doesn't work for you. Remember to do your research before providing personally identifying information to companies online!

FAQ:
Do I need an expensive, fully rigged Live2D model to be a vtuber?
No! You can always start out as a pngtuber!

Where can I learn how to Live2D rig avatars?
Check out Brian Tsui's (of Iron Vertex) YouTube channel!

Where can I find artists/riggers?
Skeb.jp, ArtStation, DeviantArt, Twitter, Reddit, etc.

Where can I learn how to digital market myself?
https://learndigital.withgoogle.com/digitalgarage

Where can I find some good games to stream?
https://twitchtracker.com/games
https://sullygnome.com/

Twitch or Youtube?
Multistream to both.

From what I've heard that actually helps. At least I hope it does because I also went full autistic on my answers.

>>7307298
A fellow autist... I essentially tried to show off that I am a fan and know a lot about Nijisanji (so that they don't have to worry too much about me adapting to the "niji" style), and also went into detail about some of the stuff with the "what do you plan to do/ how will you get an audience" to show that I've got a dedicated plan on being successful, whether it works or not I dunno, but at least I showed I have something in mind from the get-go. Since it seems being able to ride the hype from a debut is pretty important

>> No.7307504

>>7307408
I tilted more into my desire and drive to get the job. I'm about as no name as they come, so I went into detail about how much I've already got set up to be a chuuba equipment-wise, and long detailed plans of how I'd work hard for an audience. I tried to stay away from mentioning too many vtubers by name so it doesn't look like I'm trying to get in just to get particularly close to any of them, though that's likely me just being paranoid about what they're looking for.

I don't think this will go far but now I am glad I sent it and that I can proceed without regrets. Oooh some of those questions had me shaking in my boots from how abstract they were. I didn't want to provide a tl;dr answer but I also wanted to answer it properly. I took an easygoing approaching, the same as the reel I submitted. I feel like I made an honest effort but also don't think I'll be making the cut.

Good luck to everyone else who applied, though. On second thought I am getting stage fright imagining not having three concurrent viewers for once.

Depends, hard to do much with just a black and white sketch and how "unique" you want to be.
Personally I'd say just go with the normalness, normal is good enough ,people are there for the personality not the design anyways

Personally the important think I think in the designs for vtubers are their face, because the body is hidden 99% of the time so who cares about it, so go wild with the hair. give it some fun twists with the twintails if you wanna add some flair, here's some quick ideas, but i'm neither a drawfag nor a designfag so take everything i say with a grain of salt.

It can help block out some of the irritating and less pleasant higher frequencies associated with nasal voices. I'd still try to get some voice training or at least youtube lessons for lessening your nasal sounds. If the cause of nasal voice is congestion, I suggest start doing regular nasal rinsing with pic related. As for the rasp, it'd be good if you could train some of that rasp out or if it's bc of smoking; to quit that. The rasp is not good for being able to talk for long periods.

What are good EN vtubers to watch for good study material?

Currently I've been sticking with Luto and Mouse. I think vshojo and their friends are pretty good from an entertainment perspective in that they know how to hold the audience, but I'm not the biggest fan of their material a lot of the times and it often drips into normalfag territory.
HoloEN is just really painful to watch to the point I don't understand how they still exist.
NijiEN has been good too in terms of watching what to mimic, but the first wave has been too focused on being a group so that's hard to mimic. Selen is a good watch, but I don't have something like apex to bring me fame and to knowledge dump about.

The 2 girls I most want to Emulate is Luto and Rita from PRISM. I feel like they have 2 opposite sides of how to conduct a stream, I'd probably lean more toward the Rita side but I still admire Luto.

Even the twitch ones often had a large youtube presence still.
Twitch is great for the streams, but it fucks them on VODs which is where a large amount of traffic still comes from, especially with clips and covers.

For most corps the ability to easily have a place to throw songs and smaller vids is just better on youtube, plus its easier to make a company presence with links to each other. Twitch sucks with that.

Step 1 is to be a schizo then the voices will sound perfect.
Just try to do impressions of famous characters or people until you think they sound good. It took me about 3 months to perfect a Kronk impression. After that it's easier to just modulate your voice to create your own character, but recognizable voices are always better for streams. And if you're going to do a schizo stream at least one of the voices has to be a schizo like Gollum for example.
Female voices are quite a bit harder if you're a man, so tutorial is pretty helpful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbGcAdETQIE

>> No.7380401

>>7379551
The female voice isn't simply just raising the pitch of your voice, it's about reducing the resonance of your voice. I've been told this is done by moving your Adam's apple up your throat and back. I feel like the tongue muscles do this too, so I focus on moving the tongue around while feeling my Adams apple. Listen to the difference when you talk with your tongue almost touching the roof of your mouth versus your normal voice. And at the same time feel your apple move up and back. Then you can start playing with the pitch of your voice and using female speech mannerisms.

only as a hobby
if you intend to make it big you have to ask yourself a question
>do you have an existing following of at least 10k on any existing platform?
>do you have some type of skill you are literally a master at like art or game development?
if the answer to both of those is no, then you're going to be doing it as a hobbyist and to hang out with friends you meet along the way

which honestly isn't that bad, even with low views. I stream with a shitty mspaint PNG and have 0 viewers and it's still fun to sit around and stream games and talk about stuff I like for a few days a week, and then hop in someone else's chat and talk to them.

so working with them will get your name out there but to their audience, which has a lot of other vtubers
so it will get your name out there to potential collab partners and vtubers to network and talk to, but it will have a minimal impact on your viewer numbers after the initial bump

Where's a good place to shill myself to non-chuubas?

I've been going for ~6 weeks, hit affiliate, and am hitting ~5/6 average viewers. Of these, 3 are other chuubas, 1's a face streamer, and 1's a masked face-streamer. They sometimes bring their own viewers in with them, but essentially my audience is other streamers.

Which is good, as I've got an audience, but I feel like I need to build my own base. I don't stream the same game consistently enough to shill myself in any game's discord/subreddit, unless that works even when I'm rotating the game each week?
