I unironically think she's just too weird for the more normy fanbase of Holo. She's got some real classic internet energy and it can be super off-putting to new friends.

She also took two breaks close to start, and hasn't really found her footing with streaming yet. With Nerissa you get horny energy, family stories, and hard simping. FuwaMoco gives off the big sibling rivalry vibes as well as that little extra spice of not-so-seiso hidden behind the seiso personas. Biboo is bottomless optimism and energy combined with her try-hard gamer mode. Shiori though? Right now it's mostly just tangents on tangents, which aren't great for new people tuning in mid-stream.

Shiori's cool, but not for everyone. I do hope she kinda finds what makes her happy in streaming and hits her stride soon. The audience exists but she just needs a bit more time to get there.

Makes sense. They filter people because there's a mental load needed to keep up. I'm unable to watch people like Doki for the same reason, where I feel like I have to actively focus in order to understand what's going on amidst all the laughs and tangents. Which is good when I have free time to set aside for streams, but I can't skive at work and put on a Shiori tangent. I can listen to most Mori streams at work easily (except when she starts yelling) because for the most part I just chill out with her.

Youtube Shorts still does pretty well for exposure. It's a clear #2 to TikTok but it's ahead of things like Instagram / Facebook Reels. TikTok is also in for a turbulent future as it's currently fighting it's userbase* as well as the US Government.

The fight with it's userbase is really centered around the addition of the TikTok shop and the in-baked advertising that's happening. Essentially creators are getting sponsorships to promote products in the shop with crazy discount codes (in order to get people to break that first purchase threshold) but they're doing so in almost a shotgun fashion with many users reporting sitting through essentially the same add 4-5 videos in a row.

It's at least clearly an algorithm problem they could fix. Right now it's definitely intentional, but I can see the algo being their excuse for it.

Factorio and games that were inspired by it(Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program) are really niche games.
