Realistically there were ~70k people hanging around after Marine's stream. One thing you gotta remember for these costume streams is that many are tuning in just for the reveal and dipping for other things (work, dinner, sleep).
Aqua had about ~18k people watching her pull Gacha and Sora was streaming as well.

Let's get back to numbers

Do you think even with Kuzuha's recent popularity boost, Botan will still be the next one to 1 million subs?
Kuzuha's gaining from the baseball and next Apex tournament, but they're very dependend on if he makes it in the finals, while Botan and Gen 5's 1 year anniversary is coming up in August.

Or will Ollie keep rising with these tournaments and collabs and surpass them? She just got shoutouts from Gundou and Nux today, once the Trash Taste Tournament Arc 2 edited special hits she'll get another boost.

Or will Kson's re-dubt attract more than the expected 100k extra subs?

Or will Holo ID have surprise 3D debuts at the start of September and PekoMoona+Subaru skyrocket her too 1 million?

BTW, I'm not expecting any HoloEN gen 2 to get 1 million subs this fast, even if they debut tomorrow.

She does how ever hard filter people, similar to Kiara. Gura not so much. You either like Gura or don't care about her. With ollie it's more of you like her or you wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire.

Would she have had a higher sub count, yes. Would she have been above Calli? Maybe, but Callis numbers are very much tied to song releases. Big spikes when they start making the waves.

Not saying Ollies growth isn't impressive, just that I think you're overestimating how far it reaches.

I don't know if Kuzuha will make it faster unless some more events happen this fall. Most of the people subbing to him during Koshien streams are Niji fans. Something anons may not realize is Nijikoshien is for Nijisanji fans only. If you don't care about the livers, you are not watching, so he is not drawing in fresh eyes who are new to Nijisanji. Vsaikyou tournament may, but not a significant amount if he underperforms. IIRC he doesn't even have a 3rd teammate yet. It all depends. Botan grows more naturally in subs than Kuzuha. It was only during this month that Kuzuha had a huge boost. He was getting less subs that Botan at the start of the month.

Ollie will hit a cap at 800k and would slowly grow from there

Coco's roommate has insider info on when EN 2 will debut so she'll likely avoid that or ride it's wave for her vtuber debut.

Unless there's another cunny like Gura, a game autist like korone, a leader like Coco, a streaming autist like Pekora or a zatsudan pro like Marine comes in for EN 2, I doubt they'll reach to 1M that fast. HoloEN was wholly carried by Gura, Mori's music and Ame's innovation. Nyaaners and Kson are different in that they had gone through multiple phases in that same account, including being a facecam content creator. It's understandable if it were one of them people that went from avatarfagging jpg/png on streams like Bahroo and Nuxtaku since that's their persona and not their real faces, but not those two.

The reason no one tries to count accounts that had a previous persona like Nyanners is that their numbers are not intrinsic to their VTuber persona. Adding disclaimers or discounting the numbers is just adding unnecessary extra steps to a metric that is no longer useful to parse for when numberfag (and even they would be hard-pressed to attribute achievements to the persona that they created, the one the preceeded it or just themselves). Mind you, most people here were okay with people like Nyanners and Bahroo popping up on the VNUMA ranking because at that point they pretty much were streaming under their VTuber exclusively.

>Saying no one who leaves Hololive is ever allowed to be counted again, doesn’t work.
Who said this? I know I didn't. Gura is Gura, Coco is Coco and 'Yogurt' isn't 'Chesnut'. If their roommates reincarnate as VTubers, then those are counted and are considered as separate from the previous persona just like the many chuubas that reincarnated before. They operate under different branding and in many cases under different rules. That we know the relationship between their current and previous personas is largely irrelevant, otherwise people like IRyS would be labeled 100 MILLION VIEWS VSINGER unironically.

You’re assuming kson won’t be doing do after she gets her new design. I’m assuming she will, at least for the most part. Kiara has two YouTube accounts, and the success of the new account boosts her old account. In both these examples, it’s the VTuber boosting the other channel.
>no one tries to count accounts that had a previous persona like Nyanners
Some people do, but most don’t like her enough to care. Also her numbers tend to be too low to bother. She was counted here (posted about) when she hit 20k before, but it’s not often. Because there isn’t much to say.
>Adding disclaimers or discounting the numbers
There would be no need to add a disclaimer that Coco became a new VTuber, just as Gura having her old audience (from past VTuber account) combined with her new audience (from current account), doesn’t need a disclaimer.

If you want to be in the "ranking"(mainly subs)
Here is a simple solution:
1.Create a new channel with 0 sub
2.Claim yourself a vtuber
3.Debut in that new channel
Ofc you can still be a vtuber without any ranking

>if they leave Cover, they are gone forever.
Nope. But if she starts streaming in the same manner Valkyrie or Pokimane do (with a face cam) she ceases to be a vtuber even if she keeps the Gawr Gura account.

Imagine the caricature it would be if on year 3 of face cam Gura people continued calling her a VTuber. It would be a mockery of both the English language and this humble thread.

>>7240964

>all of which will be counted.
Why would you count people they subscribed to see the voice actor on a facecam as a “vtuber subscription”?
Should you count CDawg streaming with an avatar as well?

It would be useful to have a clear definition for what a vtuber is ***for the purpose of this thread*** and I propose the following
>to be target of vtuber nunberfaggotry an account must have debuted as a vtuber and never have broken character into the physical in person real voice actor / actress behind it.

It’s not hard to figure out why and it’s essentially what’s considered a vtuber already.

There should be though. I get that they rarely pass 10k live viewers to appear in the charts but, before Nijisanji and sutopuri completely mogged July, Vspo was the group on the best incline.

Right when they switched to Valorant and started playing more as a unified group, Nazuna also started her morning news series. This did the same as Asacoco to bring in everyone and promote them as a unit.
They started playing Minecraft as a unit too and just had their big summer fest collab. Nazuna hit 100k too, Vspo is hitting their popular period.

For me to consider kson a VTuber in the future, she only has to primarily stream as one (like after she gets her new design). If kson then becomes a VTuber again, but we still know her past identity (face or whatnot), it is similar to other Hololive streamers to which we know their past identity anyway. If numbers are judged mostly on the success of the VTuber, then we can still see that those came from Coco and not the roommate to which she is mainly using as a transition period. If Kiara were to quit Hololive for instance, she would go back to roommate channel to regroup, then transition into another if she wanted. That is normal behavior.

>> No.7260472

>>7259812
Cover only needs to tell the girls to avoid putting swimsuits in the thumbnail, as YouTube likely auto-detects some of these as clickbait. Swimsuits in the stream itself fine. YouTube cracks down hard on clickbait, and the most prominent form of it has been sexy bikini girls for clicks.

I’m just a bit confused though. Maybe Cover came to conclusion that the extra restrictions weren’t beneficial long-term insomuch as they were hurting their image? Maybe more streamers than Coco wanted to quit over it? I know Haachama was thinkin about quitting but was talked out of it. Either way, it would be nice if Cover simply returned to their older self, with greater allowance for collabs as well. We shall see though. I’m certainly not celebrating yet.

>> No.7260711

>>7260472
No one's going to quit over swimsuits. The real issue for most of the girls is red tape. You hear about the approval process being slow more often than you hear about management rejecting ideas, and for the most part content type has not changed. Coco's case is unique because by her own admission she'd constantly argue loopholes to do what she wanted anyway, setting her and management at loggerheads and creating a very unhealthy, distrustful environment for both of them.

I think you’re confused. When we mention swimsuits being restricted in regards to restrictions in general, we don’t meant that only swimsuits were restricted. It’s an example of it.
>red tape
Red tape is ultimately obstruction. Like in regards to collabs, insomuch as it restricts ease of collabs, thereby lowering the amount of them.
>You hear about the approval process being slow more often than you hear about management rejecting ideas
Actually we hear about both, as Coco said. Many of her ideas were being censored by management, which she made clear to Kiara. Ultimately both a flat out no, and slowing things to a crawl, is ultimately restricting freedom.

You still seem confused. Coco specifically told the EN girls to fight against the restrictions, and was worried that management would prevent her from even saying that. This is after Coco talked to the EN girls in private many times before this, so she’s not obvious to what was happening within Cover. Kiara herself also thought EN management had even greater restrictions than JP, in that she gelt she was being held to a different standard.

You also seem to be no longer addressing your “red tape” argument. I figured you would keep pretending that it cannot obstruct the amount of collabs or whatnot.

>> No.7261468

I still fail to understand how people keep trying to doompost saying Cover is restricting the girls when much of what they were doing a year ago is pretty much the same they are doing today and anything that they have actually restricted was down to YouTube, Capcom and people making their content delivery life hell in the span of a few months. The only good to come of this though is that they are now building a proper internal corporate culture that will hopefully safeguard them from possible implosion due to sheer negligence. The girls just need to be a bit more understanding and patient especially if they were there when it happened. I am certain that they will get better about all this red tape BS in the long term.

Can't wait for Kson to get her stuff set up so we can see what content she was restricted from making, because like the other anon said, Holos are still doing novelty stream ideas in spite of Cover supposedly going nazi. I mean Haachama is reviewing R18 art next month again so idk. My guesses are:
- overt sex jokes/sex experience talk
- edgy suicide jokes like the hanging kanata pic she did for Asacoco
- jokes that make fun of other countries and stereotypes
- jokes that make fun of corporations/devs that could affect future sponsorships
- maybe some edgy jokes about holomems that Cover was afraid of spawning rrats on 5ch(?)
- real talk that is too real and breaks vtuber immersion

Red tape =/= restrictions, don't twist words to serve your purpose. There's a difference between "you can do this but we need to do our due diligence in checking the content, it'll take time" and "you cannot do this" and if you pretend otherwise you're being disingenuous.

And sure, Coco told the girls to push back against management. She also said that management didn't trust her anymore because she would keep finding loopholes to get her way, and that's why her ideas keep getting turned down. That is a situation that is unique to her and unless there is proof otherwise it remains so. It's funny how the girls, Coco included, shittalk management all the time and point out their flaws, and continue doing so without being shutdown despite the fearmongering that they're going to be silenced.

I think this is more the case here, Coco was very good at finding loopholes and it eventually led to her accidentally making that suicide forest reference. Management before then seemed to be at least somewhat fine with letting the girls do things unsupervised until this blew up and then dialed it up to 100 and required full approval on everything.
Coco leaving and seeing big hitters like Marine publicly say they thought about quitting probably made Cover realize they need to ease up on restrictions a bit.
I can’t imagine pre-graduation management approving Ameilias 3D streams for instance.

>> No.7262992

I did not say censorship was unique to Coco, I said that the level of restrictions imposed on Coco was, indirectly or otherwise, unique to her. No one is arguing there are no restrictions whatsoever, just that the restrictions are not at a level that would make many of the other girls want to quit. If anything, the cut that Cover takes would be more of a valid reason.

What Cover is willing to allow has not changed much outside of swimsuits since they were never willing to allow Coco as much leeway as she got in the first place. The major difference between 2019 and now is that management is checking a lot more thoroughly (and wasting a lot more time) for potential gaffes. It's not even something unique to them, AnyColor went so far as to hire an external company for surveillance and vetting of social media and stream content. >https://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000000054.000029662.html
Cover should probably do the same and outsource it because it'd cut a lot of the red tape that I've been saying is the real issue.

We don’t know that. What we do know is that Coco said “we” are often being censored by management, while Kiara was clearly agreeing. That is what’s established.
>What Cover is willing to allow has not changed much outside of swimsuits
After Cover knew Coco was leaving, there were less restrictions on collabs too.

I think I should make it clear that I’m not attacking or hating on Cover here, but rather I’m happy that many of the criticisms about the company seem to be addressed more lately. At least it appears that way to me so far.

If I recall, it was Kanata who mentioned that because of Covid they have to book the studio 3+ weeks in advance to do any 3D streams and something like Marine's gen 3 concert almost didn't happen probably because she wanted to do it live instead of pre-recorded.

That doesn’t mean Cover hasn’t been lifting restrictions in general (on swimsuits, collabs, etc), and if things continue as they have, maybe Cover will eventually merge the JP and EN servers together, allowing access to each other. In which case it’s just a continual trend of decreasing restrictions over time.

The churn for that to work must be absurd, for 31k viewers to have joined and left in the 40 minutes it would have to have some 1000 viewers entering and 1000 different viewers leaving at any given minute, assuming they don't enter and leave immediately.

Regular churn can explain that, for instance
>lots of people bail when the regular programming ends and superchat starts
>then from that point on people that just entered the stream see SC reading going and bail
That would increase the churn in a stream in relation to, for instance, a stream from a talent that does not do SC reading after.

Proving causality is a bitch because there are lots of confounding variables to be taken in account

This is just weird nitpicking, I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here. If the peak was that short-lived then it's irrelevant, she held more than 20k viewers for the same amount of time. If we're going to bring in weird excuses then let's point out that:
1) IRyS was streaming during EN dead hours
2) Leos was streaming during active JP hours
3) Leos was streaming a hardcore run which acts as a buff when you're good at games, which he is
We can go round and round with excuses all day but all the numbers show are that they held roughly the same amount of audience for the same amount of time. End of story.

That's what the peak proves or (as >>7271780 pedantically puts), provides a very strong evidence for.

What it provides evidence against is the alternate theory some anons put forward, that the corresponding slump in some multiPOV streams like Minecraft were a result not of users tabbed off not counting, but a result of mobile viewers closing the stream and opening the other.

Isn't he part of the APEX duo? I guess they might be better served by pairing up all the time, at least for now, and getting their duo dynamics down pat while streaming APEX.

>No way Marine wrote 1000 notes.
Yeah, that's reasonable. Some idols (and even cosplay thots) do it tho, sometimes they sign and kiss thousands of envelopes.

I agree that it is unlikely in Marine's case

Some of those were handwritten notes, the others would include a printed copy of the notes. So it's an SSR chance to get the real marine's handwritten note.

I'm sure the merch doesn't help but everyone gets merch for their birthday and still manages to get good superchats. As for the costume yesterday that only got 9k and most of the time there's a countdown stream that gets far more than that. I'm not saying it's a disaster or she's finished or anything like that it's just an abnormally low figure for one of the top earners on a birthday.
