Like you said, the reference sheet was insanely detailed and well-thought-out, and she clearly cared about him when seeing the little things you mentioned.
The worst part of all of this is that was BECAUSE of his design that he got the attention that he got to begin with.
Yeah people made fun of his face, boo fucking hoo, he was still the one who got the most art because his design was so interesting, and the original backlash meant he got a lot of eyes on him during debut and debut week.
Things weren't perfect, but they yielded good results. Her son couldn't even once try seeing things from a different point of view.
