One thing ive noticed for every growing streamer from here is consistency being the most important. You can have a schedule or not, but you absolutely need to stay consistent with your times in order to cultivate regular viewers that look forward to your streams. Mond, MumkeyDee, Beryl, you can use these mid-tier ccv chuubas as an example of watching their growth in real-time, they went from 10 to 20 to 40+ ccv and they all either streamed into a certain time regularly or they started consistently at the same time so people knew when to expect them.

Spent the day watching super small vtubers. It's funny how fast you can get a sense of how likely someone is going to make it, or ngmi in most cases. Like one guy I saw had zero viewers, and he managed to talk the entire time, had a nice personality, and was entertaining to listen to, had a nice voice. He just had a kinda shitty vtuber model and probably haven't done any real networking yet, also he's a black. Another guy I saw was probably a British Indian. Had a nice model, great at engaging the chat. He had a super dorky personality, I don't think he'd ever cut it as a corpo with that kind of personality, but it's still comfy and I'm sure he'll end up with a few viewers. But man that accent is what's really going to hold him back. Of all the ones I watched, only one girl stood out as absolutely corpo ready. Nice model, really outgoing alpha personality, knew how to keep her viewers engaged. Everyone else was lacking in some way. Most had way too much dead air, some focused more on talking to their friends who they were playing with on voice chat than actually engaging their viewers. I'm gonna follow some of these guys for a year and see how they grow, if they manage to make up for their shortcomings or if they just stay the way they already are.

Maybe a handful. Ironically, I think it would be easier for /asp/ in general to audition and get signed as a corpo than to make it as a large indie. Because corpos can take a talented streamer with bad branding and give them god tier branding. To make it as a large indie, you absolutely have to have good branding, and that's something /asp/ severely lacks across the board. For example, take something as simple as a name. Look at corpos and the types of names they have. Vox Akuma, Pomu Rainpuff RIP in peace, Gawr Gura, Mori Calliope. They're unique, they sound good, some of their names reference part of their lore. Then compare it to /asp/. Not to pick on him but look at Freeofme. Really nice looking design, absolute dogshit name. And the rest of you guys aren't really that much better than him.

So my honest advice for everyone here is to go out and actually audition for the big corpos. Because corpos is your only path to vtuber success. Being a large indie is off the table with the kind of branding you guys have chosen to go with. You should look at indie streaming as practice to hone your skill, not as your actual path to the top if that makes any sense.

Names say a lot, anon. Back in the day I used to frequent the ultimate-guitar forums. You get so many threads of people asking for help naming their band. Listen, you're in a creative field. You will literally be writing original music and lyrics with these people in your band. The fact that you need help to come up with your name says a lot about the limits to your creativity when it comes to songwriting.

The same can be said for vtubing. Choosing a name is free. It's one of the only free things in the hobby. If you managed to botch your name, there's a good chance you're going to botch the design of your live2d model when you pay for an artist to actually make it. A bad name is just a symptom of a much bigger problem.

I truly don't really think my name has negatively impacted me a whole lot. Or at least its pretty low on the list of things that held me back. I've been streaming for almost 2 years now and have only had a few comments from armchair corpo managers from asp comment on it. The name might be odd for a vtuber, but its a perfectly normal name on twitch as a whole, and in a way is nice in that it is short, has no numbers, and has no underscores. I also have had number 1 search result on google basically since I started.

I mean, if I were to restart I probably have done it differently. But I just cant imagine naming myself something like "Valerio Wildfire" instead of Freeofme would have had much of an effect on how things turned out.

If one of your worries for going corpo is getting a shit model then don't bother auditioning. In a corpo setting, especially cover, you're supposed to focus on that idol journey shit. Make the best of what you're given. Otherwise, you'll just end up hating where you are and graduating before you hit any milestones. Stick to indie until you actually care for what the corporation is about. Magni and Vesper didn't have the best models, but they still had dedicated fans. But I’m also severely starved for affection while simultaneously being sex-repulsed(a bit menhera I know), so I don’t have interest in dating but I do find comfort in soft spoken male voices. Kind of like when I’m reading fanfiction, my own imagination is colorful enough to fill in the blanks and give me that feeling of comfort without me needing to worry about actually dealing with a person face to face. It scratches that itch from the safety of my own home.

i didnt know if i wanted to be sold on the concept of ASMR but i did want to know the appeal when it comes to stuff like this. i understand the appeal of having your oshi be more closer with you and caring about your well-being. unfortunately while i dont think ill ever like asmr i think id like to make art that appeals to people that want this closeness with their oshi. thanks!
