The decision to keep the play buttons is far more insidious than merely being cheap. You are owned by the company. Your achievements are nothing more than the company's achievements.
The talent being allowed to own any copy of recognition of the achievements devalues the copy that the company has and also gives the talent a small mental view that they are indeed a talent and not just a disposable cog in the machine of the company.

Cogs do not get recognition. They are cogs. To allow the talents to have a personal copy means they are more than cogs. Therefore they cannot be allowed to have a play button.
The money is not the issue. It's the talent having rights that is the issue.
