I really don't care about idolshit, and have found that switching from watching hololive to indies has improved my enjoyment of vtubers in general immensely. The fanbases not being as insane is a bonus, as well.

I think the idol stuff has value but only because it’s coming from a chuuba you like that you wanna root for, without streams I would have spent much less time with my oshi and I’d probably be less invested as a result.
