It's more the timing and the context of it all. People were already upset with her, and this was a glimpse that she might have been returning to the person they actually paid her to be after months of being spurned and actively rejected.
To have all of that hope blow up in your face AND have her take your money through false advertising on top of that is just vile and should have been shamed.
