it was clearly a deliberate audience to try to target their local market and it worked marvellously with ID3 being a smash hit and Kobo a local superstar but, as you guys are already noticing, the size of the potential audience doesn't match the size of the potential PAYING audience so they are maybe worse off.
Now, I also attribute that to the ***quality*** of audience they got. Thanks to Kobo, it ended up being a mostly general streaming watcher mostly non "weeb-adjacent" audience that definitely isn't the all loving all support typical Holo audience

Women have a net negative fiscal impact, and significantly more debt than men. They consume considerably more, but it's primarily isolated to a)high interest debt/loan payments, b)cosmetics, c)clothing items, d)services.

Men are willing to spend considerably more for online services compared to women (an average of 2,314 versus an average of 740 U.S. dollars).
Every single company that pivoted in an attempt to appeal to that mythical 18-Trillion dollar female market has failed miserably. Women will not magically like your laptops if you paint them pink, they will magically like them if they are shilled on social media and a narrative is formed that they are cool and everyone likes them. Women are cattle.
Likewise, the fujoshis will only ever like the homofags you are shitting out if the social media astroturfing campaign succeeds and women believe it's cool to like them, and it provides them with social capital.
Covercorp should bunker up and stop trying to force it. JP is in a technical recession, and interest rates are sky-high. They cannot afford to brute force risky expansion.

Catering to female audience also allows Cover to get a wider range of license deals and sponsorships.

I agree that demographic expansion is risky in Cover's case but they have few options rather than letting that market stay untapped.
Yagoo sees VTuber as a content platform like kpop/anime/manga, and to each of those there are sizable market for either gender demographics.
He'd risk other, maybe larger, corpos exploit that market gap and secured a foothold in the market rivaling his operations.
I personally believe the best course of action is to build up a new brand separate from hololive entirely to try to corner that demographic, though I don't think Cover believes that is necessary as they are grossly underestimating the risks that could incur their current operations with their approach so far.

I still hold that giving "Holo" branding to Stars was one of the worst things Cover could have done to them.
