Honestly? Just pick something that entertains you. There’s no point in picking up a recommendation from here that ends up boring you out of your mind, resulting in you dropping the book. Any properly published book has obviously caught the attention of a publisher and gone through multiple editing stages before reaching the shelves. Sure, you could try reading something like Middlemarch to stuff your brain with excessive vocabulary but that’s really not necessary when writing fanfiction on a Romanian fishing forum. If it’s on the shelves in paperback form, it’s enough to guide you.

With that said, you seem to enjoy writing adventure/magic stories so I could recommend something like Ranger’s Apprentice or the Pittacus Lore series. A couple of pretentious anons here might jump in and say some shit like how those books are not “mature” enough, but the level of writing is still more than enough to learn from for most of us here and I think they’d fit the kind of stories you’re going for.

With all that said though, my first point still remains. Pick something you like, as long as it’s written by a published author who writes books to put food on the table. It’ll be enough.
