The tattoo artist claimed that he owned the rights to that tattoo design because he made it and the celebrity couldn't monetize it, even though it was literally his own body. That shit is fucking retarded.

I have no problem with artists wanting more control of their work, but that needs to be agreed upon by both parties ahead of time. If owning the rights or being able to further monetize the things people pay you to make for them is that important to you, then you need to be clear about that in the initial discussion when you agree to take their money.

I mean its hard to feel bad for someone so naive at least they got "exposure". Its probably this person being self taught, from the few classes I had when pursuing game art and design we had a few instructors talk about IP laws and how companies could fuck you and take everything a lot of advice about getting lawyers or being ok with getting nothing lol. I guess that's one benefit to a more formal education but its not really an excuse anyone that is in a space like that should know better. At least they learned the lesson, I'm assuming, early in their career. If it was late then I feel even less bad at a certain age you should just know these things or be able to intuit them.

The only thing we know about kurosanji contracts is vtuber related (absolute dogshit contracts, they try to force you to sign it quickly and not contact lawyers) and whenever they have some sort of art contest all art submitted is considered theirs (This is called speculative work and it's in many fields.
