Is Apex Legends even a good or buff game? I don't get it.

Trash game. All battle royale is trash. Because of how seemingly unlikely it is to win a game, it's convinced so many awful players that they aren't actually trash. The odds are just really that much against them. Then you get people like Ollie continuing to play rather than quitting in shame like she should be doing. Imagine never winning a ranked Starcraft game after 100 games. That's Ollie. And she still plays.

Super buff for chuubas like Selen. She should just give into her destiny of being an exclusive Apex streamer.

>Everyone should ragequit and/or stop streaming the game they like playing because it's hard and I don't like battle royales.

And what's with this odds bullshit? All 100 players have the same possible battle options at their core. The only meaningful disadvantage is skill.

To be fair, unlike starcraft which is a binary win or lose, just doing better in APEX means you're 'winning' because you dont need to be first to get the win bonuses.

Tackle any game with this mindset and you've already lost. The phase for any BR game is the conversion of trying not to die into possibly winning, player starts off figuring out how to lessen the chances of them dying into increasing the chance of winning and APEX/any squad game helps that along by having more experienced players taking the lead(ideally).
There's also the setting of goals, playing to win or playing to improve, farm kills/damage etc. You can win with 0 kills, possibly even 0 damage like Pochi-sensei but that's probably gonna feel bad.

That said I enjoy watching vtubers play just for the positive perspective of streamers playing and having a good time instead of getting mad.

iirc it basically died after its initial launch within a week. I think they ran some massive shill campaign or something to pull it off life support. Basically shit that shouldn't be alive but they managed to hook enough people into keeping it up.

Buff game? Yes. Fun to watch? Only if the chubas are a full team of apex predators competing against the toughest opponents. Otherwise it's just a slow motion fail compilation.

>> No.7087397

>>7074184
>Because of how seemingly unlikely it is to win a game
That's only because most chubas are trash at videogames in general, it's not hard to win in BR, specially in apex, but most won't bother to improve enough. They queue, drop in a corner of the map where no one lands, loot for 10 min and die to the first squad they face, then repeat this cycle for 100's of games.

It's a buff game for people who come out the gates saying they're good at the game. Selen, Lauren, and Axia of the recent Niji recruits all basically said they're Master/Pred-tier players and it's very clearly going to be their bread and butter. If you're dogshit you better hope you have personality. If you have neither the skill or personality it's an inherent debuff game.

It's also a debuff game for the streamers people hold to being the GFEs in Hololive. Pekora, Marine, Korone all get a sharp increase in dislikes for playing it even though they make any game look fun.

>>7094550

Eh. Towa and Aqua are both Diamond. Choco, Roboco, Fubuki all (used to) play a lot and I don't think any of them can get out of Gold.

not while that retard Daniel Klein is in charge of "balancing". Imagine nerfing a legend just because you got merked by one in a game once

Respawn can make some pretty great shooters but holy fuck are their community relations so shit. People have been complaining about server issues but all they can think about is what fucking dull color to use for their generic as fuck skins that no one even wants.

Also, lore? how bout some irrelevant comics that may or may not be canon and some cinematics wherein shit happens just because it looks "cool". Some naive redditors will praise us like we actually give a shit to the story anyways (seriously, that "wHeN peOpLe mEntIoN apEx tHeY alWayS tHinK oF tHe gAmePlaY. bUt lEt'S nOt fOrgEt tHe worK oF arT tHat is tHe lOre" reddit post where the comments are circle jerking to the godawful obviously unplanned joke they call a story actually gave me aids).

wrong, i've had many times where my squad have stumbled on another squad that just won a gunfight but were nearly dead
seems counterintuitive for a videogame to punish someone for being able to win gunfights, apex isn't a badly made game (unlike fortnite) but its a BR and BRs are shit by default for encouraging unfun, cancerous playstyles

Name them.

I just want a chuba who can actually play fighters. At least I get JRPGs if they're willing to tank their views.

I was playing it the other day and this exact thing happened. I came upon some squad that had barely won a fight. The guy was in the middle of rezzing his teammate and 1 single bullet from my gun killed him. I legitimately felt like an asshole. Apex has moved in the right direction with having damage give you stronger armor to encourage fighting, but they still haven't solved the 3rd party problem that plagues all BRs.

The whole BR genre is an RNG fuck fest and I think that's where a lot of its popularity lies. Pull the slot machine lever enough times and eventually serendipity will strike and give you a free win no matter how bad you are. For instance, I have only about 50 hours in Apex and one game my squad won with all 3 of us having done 0 damage. I actually stopped playing it for a time after that because it clearly demonstrated how little impact your own game play makes against the sum of the other 59. Maybe the genre is a modern art critique of the universe.

But other than that, hands down fighting games and I don't see danmaku too much. And even for jrpgs, would love to see more branching out than just a dq11 or what have you. Like a Grandia, but was nice to see SaGa get its moment.

Would having your squad receive some kind of instant shield or heal after eliminating an enemy squad help things?

>> No.7111577

>>7110785
Actually I searched and a community manager said they considered/are still considering adding something like that. The main problem with it is that there's no way to determine who should receive the extra health. Imagine two teams are close to finishing a fight, then a 3rd comes and kill snipes the last one. Should the 3rd team get the full heal? I suppose it could be based on the percentage of damage each team did to the squad, and then when the final kill is made, everyone receives their proper contribution's worth, but then you also have to consider the timing of it.

What if its a scrappy fight between 3 teams, and Team A has really been drilling into Team B the whole time, but Team B has done more damage to Team C. Imagine you're on Team A, about to kill someone on Team B, and then one of your teammates manages to kill the last person of Team C and thus activate the heal; your opponent suddenly gains a ton of health out of nowhere through no fault of your own and there is no way you could know that was going to happen when you made your decision to go all in on your opponent.

I think the only bullet proof solution is literally locking the area when a team starts to fight and no one else can enter or leave until its finished, but the mechanics of that would be a nightmare to tune and ultimately wouldn't really be that fun. I think that 3rd partying is just an inescapable mechanic to BR that can't be fixed, and maybe shouldn't be fixed. If it didn't exist then the game would be nothing more than window dressing for a deathmatch server selection screen.

Maybe something similar to warzone's Quickfix where you(not the squad) will gain some health whenever you killed a player. But this will most likely appear in apex as a hero ability instead of a default thing imo

shit take, Fighters are skill based you're either better than your 1 (ONE) opponent or you're not

with FPS especially fucking Battle Royale (RNG) based you simply have way too much shit going against you to consistently pull a champion. There's guess work and reading and fighter almost always a solution to any problem in FPS you can't do shit if 2 squad mates are down and an entire fucking squad with red armor comes at you from different angles you're fucked no amount of skill or reading saves that .
