They are similar, but a floating ball robot with the floating rings isn't an especially original design, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was coincidental
Flayon himself got the idea of the machiroons from fan designs, since everyone had a shared general design of "red ball with a robot face, cat ears, and a Flayon tail", then he just added a hat and replaced the tail with the robot floating rings/swirl.
