I saw some clips of her and some streams when she collabed with Mumei and then later again with TSB so she was on my radar. A lot of streamers I watch regularly were busy with other things during December so I figured I'd check out that Selen person.
But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
So anyway, I'll keep watching Dokibird. If shit hadn't gone down they way it did I might be subscribed to Selen Tatsuki of Nijisanji now.

I always found her personality a bit abrasive for my tastes and her laugh kind of annoys me (sorry...). I only watched her a little bit in niji and I only watched her a little bit after that mostly because I was curious if she'd change much.

One of the most enjoyable chuubas out there. Watched her a lot pre-Zaion, but had to drop her because my conscience wouldn't let me continue supporting her shithole of a company even through a view. Felt more guilty and pity the more I heard how much her nigger management shafted her from the outfit contest and hosting tournaments.
Back to watching her again now that she's out. I'm glad she's finally off her chains, but it's a shame what had to happen beforehand.

I'd been following her extremely infrequently ever since her post debut StarCraft stream, since I wanted to drop a UEDeez nuts in chat as soon as it came up in brood war, then leave without explanation.
Now that she's Doki I decided to actually watch her instead of just futilely checking for a brood war stream. And yeah, she's actually pretty entertaining. Her sonic collections stream was amazing.
And after that charity stream goal was reached? I've never been more ready.

I watched one or two streams before i gave up.

First, most of the time she streams when i am asleep.
Now for the main point.
I don't watch vtubers or other forms of 'streamers', but i realized that this form of entertainment is lazy.

Screaming "What do you mean??" every few minutes and laughing for no reason to fill up the quietness is one version of it, but it's just not for me.

My problem in general with streamers is that they are lazy and uninspired.
They never practice comedic timing and acting in order to understand the essence of entertainment.

In case of vtubers it becomes even worse. They coast on the fact that they have cute voices and become successful despite their lack of passion.

Can you honestly say with confidence that any of the vtubers (that 90%+ of their audience is from the opposite gender) can ever be successful in the real world?

For now, i will continue to lurk for drama.

I started watching Doki right after she debuted in that black company. I've always liked people with skill at video games, and her skill at Apex was better than most. I liked her laugh, I liked that she's got good chemistry with a lot of her collab choices, and I especially liked how she didn't join in the chorus of "Nijisanji family" and the secret gc stream. Casting aside her bully dragon persona becoming too much sometimes, I feel like she's professional with the people she deals with. She avoided mentions and topics that might look bad on her relatively more than other vtubers, especially in that black company where doubling down on bad takes was tradition.
I'm glad she kept most of her personality intact till now; so all the things I liked about her still applies; but I was stressed out when I found out about the whole suicide thing. I didn't know shit was that bad since I've been away from the black company entirely for all of 2023. She's a valuable chuuba to the EOP front of the industry. Here's a relatively competent gamer that can entertain; speak English; network; take care of her own commissions; puts in more effort than her former coworkers; and just... converse with others.
And they almost took that from us... I'm happy she's indie. Hope she stays indie for her own good. Perhaps she can't compete in dancing and singing, but Doki is a good EN chuuba who understands the essence of being a chuuba more than some others.

She was pretty good as Selen, but not someone I'd watch regularly, outside of collabs, as watching competitive FPS isn't my cup of tea, prefer something with intense coop or a story.

However, the collabs with Pomu are all some of the funniest, most heart warming shit I've seen in my whole life. Niji would have lost me had they both simply graduated peaceably, but given that they threatened the lives of all their talents in the process, now I'm ready to crusade to end them, and can't watch any of them anymore until they safely get out of there, for their own good. The longer that company goes on as is, putting talents on the firing line, the more likely we're going to have the sort of yab that ends the industry, be it a successful suicide or a murder.

New viewer, I came in on the drama wave. I started watching Doki because she can speak some Cantonese and to support people who have lived through suicide attempts. I'm not the biggest fan of her content choices, but I can't say I'm a big fan of anyone's content. Both she and Ame stream Apex and I'm not the biggest fan of FPS. I was hoping for something like a Mumei Doki Civilization collab, but I guess something like that is unlikely. I pretty much only play strategy and I haven't found a good strategy v-tuber yet. I saw a clip of Selen-Doki playing Civ so I figure it's only a matter of time before she comes back to it.

Her model is cute, tomatoes are cute, and her tastes are generally based. I can listen to her for hours, same as with most Hololive girls. (I tried listening to Lumi but text to speech, sound effects, and her general pitch made me stop. I only tried to watch Lumi because of her AoE and Total War streams but Lumi feels like a chore to watch. An honest to goodness lemon.) Doki's voice is nice to listen to, her chatting streams are relaxed. Her talking well about her manager makes me feel like I'm in the loop, even if I've only seen half her streams. I'll probably stick to her chatting streams. I'm interested in seeing what Doki's future content will be.

I watched her second Helldivers stream with TSB and to be totally honest, I cringed too much when she was teasing rpr who clearly sounded too tired to both carry a team of unironic greenbeards and entertain all of the verbal jabs. Also the clips of her with Filian are presented as if she's teasing the VR kit breaker, and Filian is at times just kind of speechless and fuming. Everyone keeps saying it's banter, and I never really understood banter, so I may as well could be just a personal gripe.
But in other times she is radiant and bright and watching her laugh makes me kind of warm. I am conflicted on her.

Point is - she's not some universally liked streamer. If you watched Selen and liked her style, Doki is pretty much a direct continuation of this paradigm. With a bit less filter now that she is free from the bottle.

She was the first niji en I actually got into and membered. i don't even like apex or have many of the same gaming interests as her, I just enjoy her personality and how entertaining she is. I actually cooled off watching vtubers in general when she was silently suspended before the termination. i just didn't watch vtubers in general anymore and moved on to other stuff to watch.

now that she's back, I've been all-in again when it comes to catching streams. I've started to tune into sayu during the doki downtime.
