let's say you're an extremely popular vtuber and you have lots of fans obsessed with you; you're popular without even trying, but for some reason, you don't want to be popular, at all, you can't deal with it
what would be the best way to LOSE viewers? to make people lose interest in you? take into consideration that not streaming would only make people even more curious about your life and wait patiently for your return (like it happens with Ayame or Gura)

That's... a very specific range considering how rare 5k+ viewers are for vtubers. The really rough thing is reducing your numbers by a lot, but not TOO much. Hana Macchia pulled it off, I think. I don't remember exactly how but she managed to weed out her fanbase. Otherwise if you start off that big, I think the only real thing you could do outside of a mass betrayal like Finana is to stream less so you get killed by the algorithm, then focus entirely on games YOU want to play, regardless of what chat is doing. Chat also tends to love interaction, so interacting with them less would cause only the people watching or alt tabbing to stick around.
If all you care about is chat speed though, just use slow mode. Even with a large ccv, a big enough slow mode can tone things down enough to be manageable.

Go hard into bad content. Pick an eight year old fotm multiplayer game (not a popular game like apex, a true 'who still plays that' game like The Hunt: Showdown or Dead By Daylight) and start grinding it for a hundred hours a month. Like strategy games? Play age of empires 3 ranked queues for a weekend or two. How about joining a dnd campaign and getting caught up in that for a couple months. The biggest thing you can be avoiding that is going to retain your audience is zatsus, so when you play these games just start stream already queued up and then end when you are tired of playing with barely a goodbye. Dont completely drop chat interaction but set some obnoxious bumps to filter new audience like being a 3 month follower to post.
