I remember when I streamed for a charity for like a month I expected even in a months time I wouldn't reach the 400 dollar goal I set, it's insane to me that someone would ever think they'd reach well over that in just 24 hours or so.

It's not a small indie one. Choice is between new CK3 DLC and the Thaumaturge.

Depends on what you're making it to show. Just fill a folder full of things that look like or are similar to what you're looking for. The more specific you are the more direction it gives an artist. You're literally taking the "all art is derivative" approach to character design where you take as many features, shapes, colors, and concepts as you can and ask the artist to blend them up for you to make something for you.

"Worthwhile" is entirely subjective.
But there was surely a point in the beginning where you felt like you're trying to build yourself up into being "real" (regardless of if "real" feels "real" at 5 viewers or 50 million) and a point where you said "oh! this is actually working"
For me, subjectively, that "real" point is when you regularly have a few people participating in chat and engaging.
Even as little as 3 people actively chatting with you while you're streaming feels "real" to me, the vast majority of people don't have 3 or more people focusing on you as the center of attention for over 2 hours, so even with that few people there's a feeling of "oh! there are people who care about what I'm doing and/or saying!".
To me personally that's the barrier between "real" and "trying to make it real", when there are people who enjoy you and what you're saying it feels different compared to when you're streaming into the void and wondering if anyone is going to bite your stale bait.

It's obviously not about money, no one here is doing anywhere near well enough for money to even be a factor.
