Here's an advise from a pseudo manager for a ltieral who indie vtuber:

1) If you apply to a corpo and are picked up, try to cultivate fans to your personality, not to your designated model. You're expendable to a corpo and if they dont provide you with good conditions, you are better off graduating and taking the fans with you so you can have a bigger success as an indie.

2) If you are picked up by a corpo, dont graduate your indie model. Go to an indefinite hiatus instead. That way it feels less awkward to return to streaming activities with your previous model if you decide to leave the corpo.

3) Treat every important holiday (holy week, valentines, start of summer, halloween, christmas, etc) as an event for vtubing activities, that way you can maximize profits from donations and subs.

What keeps people around is the "meta narrative", the overall "story" your character is selling.

Let me give you an example: I join a raid, and check the person 10 seconds or so before I close it.
One person says: "welcome raiders" and moves back to the game. I leave
The other person, introduces her self, and does a small blurb, and then hits me with "and my dream is to be an idol" or " my goal is to reach master rank at X game"

If you have lots of male vtubers orbiting you, it'll be hard to motivate regular viewers to participate. From outside, your fandom can be seen as a vtuber club.

If you're lucky enough having organic viewers then you just have to be persistent and continue what you are doing. I personally like Words On Stream. There are games like Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers you can play with your viewers
