That last hallway run, where Miss Delight doesn't stop walking even when you're looking at her, is a straight sprint to the finish, just turn and run. When you turn to pull the lever, she breaks out into a full sprint, and gets crushed by the door regardless, but her shift in speed just to get to that point is always awkward and very obvious
Mori was so frazzled by the fact she kept moving, she got trapped on a box moving backwards and died in what is essentially a scripted event. That said, the way she looked away from the door actually covered up that awkward shift in speed, and made the mad fucking sprint actually believable and turned it into a genuine scare.

I think an amusing flaw of Poppy's Playtime is specifically that it tries to be more of a game than a spook simulator believe it or not. Cause it's simply not fun to have to redo a section like that from the start, especially after the novelty of the scares wears off. Yeah I had the same idea. What's interesting is that this is the first time the game slipped like this. The chase in first chapter entirely relies on basic movements and rules of where you can or can't go that you learned while doing puzzles before. Chapter 2 has that final sequence with Mommy where you need to hide twice( in the furnace and in the ceiling) and both times game makes sure you HAVE to go into those places before the chases so you're aware of them which I think is good design. I actually find the way Mori broke the furnace part the weirdest because I was 100% sure it's just a script. If you are inside a furnace, Mommy doesn't find you, if you're outside - she does. Instead it seemed like Mommy has "fair" field of view and you can hide from her which is very weird to implement for a minute-long section.

I noticed this in doom as well, but when it comes to FPS she seems to have a hard time orienting herself in a 3D space, and shooters are usually very fast pace which increases her issue

Yeah, that's a fair assumption. Personally, I'd make her much faster but also add a couple checkpoints in the sequence and maybe add a slight delay to her recovery after you look away to compensate for her faster speed so that it was more true to the concept instead of just being a chase. I think the way Mori did it was a lot more interesting to watch than just running away.

I think they just run. You can very easily loop her and there's like 2 moments where you need to stay in place and drag furniture away from doors so that's the only times when she can catch up, you can do batteries and charging pretty much on the run so she can't really catch you during those.
