As someone who's rigged and drawn my own model twice now and has 5 vtuber children it's honestly not as bad as people make it out to be, it just takes patience and willingness to learn (like any other skill), people with an artistic eye are going to have an advantage for it inherently

After having 300 viewers in my chat that one time, I figured out I never want to be popular like that. I just want to have a good little niche space, so I have an outlet on my hobbies. I love to play characters and used to do a lot of acting, so this is a great outlet for me.
I have a lot of irl and url friends who support my vtubing and watch, so there’s also that. Picking up new people to talk to is just a bonus, I love the novelty of meeting strangers and talking to them.

My oshi has very nice viewers and the community cord has been super cozy. It really depends on the audience you go for. If you attract the coomer viewers or kids you will have toxic assholes making the community miserable but if you got something more to offer things could turn out much better.
