I think the main reason for this is the nature of the largest crowd watching vtubers now which are risk averse.
They know Hololive and stay because it's safe and a known thing.

Going to an external vtuber would be an adventure most of their viewers don't want to do.

One issue is that what the normies of vtubing desire is different.
Vtubers which grew initially before this last phase of adoption already maxed out the target audience they were growing on.
To reach the next and bigger crowd they would have to take the Suisei road, but they would stop being an indie and lose some of their current fans in exchange for future growth.

It is mirroring know past behavior of fish memory normies looking for the hype until it dies down after a few weeks when they go to the next thing.

There may be an interesting parallel to how the stock market works.
Investors start to go the the less risky large caps first, then progressively invest into the mid caps, and finally into the more risky small caps.
We are currently into the large caps mania phase in the US stock market, which is starting to also trickle down into the mid caps and should go into the small caps in the near future.

What's interesting with vtubers is that they had their adoption cycle at the same time as BTC, and seem to mirror it in some ways.
If that's the case the small caps will receive interest at the end of the cycle for the biggest relative growth, but requires for them to survive and improve their fundamentals until this manifests.

Indie vtubers may be in a similar situation, where the growth has slowed down, but could have another growth spurt later this year.

Does this mean that what happens in the economy mirrors the mindset of the people living in the world and affects it?
In that case the moment Small Caps have their big pump phase, we should see a similar effect on indie vtubers, although it may be with a delay of 3-6 months.

This will be an interesting experiment.

A market leader emerges which gains 80% of the market, but that is also a glass ceiling.
As the general market grows, there will be a phase where the remaining 20% will grow too, but it doesn't happen at the same time.

Hololive's content is made to be with high quantity at the cost of diluting soul.
They are the reliable fast food brand of vtubing.

Still the problem with many OGs and the reason for their slow bleed of interest is that what many of them had was a first mover's advantage.
That's a good start, but you need talent and to be entertaining once you get more competition.

Many OGs were anomalies which would never have become know had they not started early, and that later reflects in their dying popularity.

The law of Pareto applies here too.
Those who end up at the top over time are the most entertaining to the majority with the most efficient amount of effort.

Nothing is perfect, and there may be issues in the parts humans manipulated the algorithm for censorship.
However from my own experience youtube was one of the greatest source of improvement and change in my life through its recommendation system.
I had to have an open mind for this result, but it means that the algorithm is able to predict what you need before you understand it when humans don't manipulate it.

Maybe it's a perspective problem.
If you believe the algorithm to be shit that's what you will see, but you may ignore the reasons for that.

The main issue with youtube is that is has become monopolistic by killing competitors.
However their latest attacks against add blockers would show a change in their behavior which could create an opening for competition.

As per the law of attraction both the companies and their vtubers had similar issues.
Those companies either didn't know what they were doing because of ego issues, or were run by psychopaths who are even worse.

The greatest marker for the success of a company is the humility of the CEO, because it enables a positive environment, open to new ideas and change.

Psychopaths and Kurosanji are the opposite of that.
As for Dot Live my memory of their big drama would show the management wasn't at the level required for success.
They are at best average.

When she started what drove her growth was her desire to be loved and accepted.
It peaked with her targeting the English audience in addition to her Japanese one.

After she changed a few years ago that need disappeared, and she reduced her efforts to do mostly comedian streams for her Japanese fans.

She doesn't have a reason to graduate like Bell and Memory, but her activity could decrease with time.
