I think its a mixed case. In one episode Orange pranks tomato for April Fools Day by saying shes a fruit since it was announced on the news, but he never said his personal opinion. In an way, this could serve as an allegory for how prejudice is distributed among produce. Or, you could approach this as relating to the modern trans issues (i.e. "you're a vegetable" "no I am a fruit" "no scientifically you are a vegetable") and so on
