But I also hate Cover for putting expectations and duties on them they had no interest in abiding by. I don't hate them for quitting because at the end of the day, they did what I expected many VTubers to do: quit after 1-3 years when they realize that they don't want to stream under corpo guidelines. This is why the contracts are for 1 year because it gives both the company and them an out if they want it.

He just never knew anything about a single JP star despite name dropping them all the time. Like, it was so bad that he typically didn't even know the most entry level clip bait material related to them. It's on the level of being a hololive fan and not recognizing yabairys or Bijou's gen alpha memeing. He's the only star to date in either branch that's acted this way. Honestly, it feel uncanny how few holomem have graduated (terminations don't count). For me, I'd be relatively comfortable having a talent graduate after 2 or 3 years. Like, if wawa announced her graduation this year, I'd be messed up, but I'd ultimately be understanding. Four years is a long time in the entertainment industry, and her resume and network is probably cracked by now.

I guess that begs the question of how future graduations will look like. I expect it to be increasingly common to merge understrengthed groups (ex. Promise) or using multi-generation group themes (ex. Tempus) because no one wants to be known as the last survivor of a gen or group. Thank god they decided to make the first two holostarsEN part of the same guild lore-wise. Otherwise, Vesp and Magni leaving would've been symbolically so much worse.

I think the multi-generation group thing for Tempus was specifically because they're HoloStars EN and had some pretty unique circumstances with the first 2 waves. IMO I still see them as 3 separate gens despite how much they say Tempus isn't.

For HoloPromise it just made a lot sense to combine IRyS with Council. IRyS was always Council in everything but name because Omega dropped the ball on that gen harder than he was dropped as a baby. And with Sana leaving it made even more sense to combine IRyS in there.

See, I do kinda feel this way, but there are kinda 2 different parts of that. Magni, I'm more sympathetic towards because for the time he was there, he very clearly developed a strong relationship with the boys and that shows how even after graduating, he still hangs out with them. Vesper early on, I really liked, but after the Japan trip, it felt like he completely checked out and basically became a solo streamer. He would miss important collabs and barely even acknowledge it after the fact.

Unironically yes. Early Tempus was the halfway point between classic gaming/skit Youtube content like Achievement Hunters/Couch co-op LP channels, and the mild anime kayfabe of vtubing. It harkened back to a simpler time of content creation. It's no surprise that what little survived of the brotubing audience has mostly gravitated toward the guy that's been a content creator for more than a decade (Bettel).
