You don't have to follow me, I just had it on a twitter post since that seemed the easiest way to see who was okay with being drawn on stream while also obtaining reference pics! There are, in general too approaches to the retro category

1- experiences classics for the first time
2- replaying games you played in your childhood and rage about it

First route is the chuubacore approach to retro, the second route is the angry videogame nerd route that was popular before.

To make them click, it is ironicany going to depend on how you frame the narrative:

- "newbie tries Mario 64/ OoT for the first time" always gets the views, but you will have to be careful with backseaters because what most people are in for is to see you struggle

- " I had this game and I never beat it" you go for the Nintendo hard titles and be extremely miserable, the megamans and Battletoads usually do the trick

Either of this strategies will usually get people to click in the retro category , the last route combined with Endurance streaming where you are not allowed to quit until you finish it is actually Korone's niche, but she also dabbles in the first one every so often.
Korone is also knows how to exploit both to its maximun by creating clippable moments out of both of them:

Work smarter not harder.

Instead of streaming for 5-6 hours you should instead stream for 20minutes- 1 hour.
After your stream is over rebroadcast your new stream on loop for the next 6 hours.
Be sure to stop by with chat messages so your viewer olshys know you haven't abandoned them, but also use this time to self care.
Have advertising running 3 minute advertising every 15 minutes to pay the internet, and electricity bill for the rebroadcast.

This gives:

-the vtuber a chance to self care, and be less hands on, but still present

-viewers a chance to channel point farm, and really absorb the information in your content

-a chance for both you, and chatter to engage in text format interaction

-twitch a chance to earn respect from advertising sponsors


Consider playing trivia games in chat if the chat is sort of dead. Simple math problem games in chat could be fun too.

For followers. Not much else. I used to stream 8+ hours everyday. Got followers, but not much else.
Most of my live viewers trickled in during short streams when I played a popular MMO in it's prime on PvP servers. They were more of challengers looking for a surveillance advantage than viewers though.
I have never qualified for affiliate over 7 years now due to poor ccv.

In some ways (followers) you're right that longer streams are better, but in many ways it does nothing to benefit the streamer, and only benefits twitch by inflating their analytics.

My advice still stands that you're better off streaming in short bursts. Bad for Twitch analytics, but good for streamer, and viewer health.

If you really want to play endurance broadcast simulator create a auxillery channel that rebroadcasts your past VODs 24/7.

She got lucky by interacting with a few /asp/ies and managed to network from there, people found out how much she loves streaming mahjong and made a gimmick out of being an endurance streamer.
