You know, I've seen this sentiment quite a bit in the Hololive fandom, but I've never quite gotten what it really means. The way I see it, Hololive was never in danger of becoming more like Niji unless it decided to change the way it runs from the top down and entirely drop the idol thing, which I never saw them in any danger of doing. Even in 2022, they still ran the same as always, so what exactly was the change in strategy?
More collabs outside the company? Well Hololive JP had been collabing with Niji well before that, these collabs were always rare, and they still happen to this day with the same infrequency.
Mixed gender collabs? The talents have always been allowed to make their own calls on that, and from the beginning and until now the talents who are ok with them do them occaisionally.
The style of humor/general level of raunchiness? That also seems to be up to the talents. From the very beginning we had Matsuri, Aki, Mel, Choco, Haachama, Noel, Marine and Coco who could all be pretty raunchy and irreverent. If anything Haachama and Okayu have only gotten more lewd recently, and Shiori and Nerissa can both be pretty wild. Not to mention ID being ID this whole time. To me the big difference is not the content of their jokes but how they tell them; Hololive feels like it's a well tailored bit done by a seasoned professional. Tactical raunchiness, applied for comedic timing. Niji always felt a bit more scattershot and off the cuff in their approach, which is what I think gave the impression that they were wilder.
Basically, what I'm saying is that to me the difference between Holo and Niji has always been an air of professionalism that runs all the way from the top down that I never saw in Niji. Throughout all the changes and evolutions to the company over the years, I've never seen any indication that this professionalism is in danger. If anything, they've only gotten better and more consistent.
