Her leaving probably indirectly caused a lot of this. Pomu has enough credibility to hold the branch (somewhat) together, and her graduation was in the works for months. I’m sure knowing she was leaving dampened the mood enough for Selen to give fewer and fewer fucks about the way she was treated. It might have emboldened the clique too.
This is all speculation, but after Pomu leaves seems like the perfect time for all the conditions required for this powder keg to come together. Not that it couldn’t have happened while she was still here, or if she’d decided to stay just a bit longer. Just it was more likely to happen afterwards.

People keep speculating Pomu was part of the clique, and I'd 100% entertain the idea of it if it wasn't for the many one on one collabs between her and Selen. Selen didn't need to collab so often with her, but she did anyway. Their relationship became deeper over time, and there was nothing to even hint that either of them didn't enjoy each other's company. FFS they got matching themed outfits and Selen funded a game to celebrate that out of pocket.
The only way Pomu could possibly have been part of the clique is if she was some kind of mastermind psychopath that kept building up Selen only for her friends to put her down. Do you really think she'd do something so insidious like that?

This did often lead to compromise, but at least SOME projects of the non clique members had a chance of actually happening.
Without her, the clique assumed full control of NijiEN, ensuring that they could do what they wanted (explaining also the context of that Enna tweet about 2024 being a great year).
