I don't think they realized that by hiring a contractor in Canada that they are 100% bound by the strict Canadian employment laws and that Canada will actually fight on behalf of the person if they see proof those laws were broken. They do this so big companies can't just bury people in legal fees to avoid shit. Japan and Canada are also part of the same treaty where Japan will force niji to pay any judgment canadian courts find against them sonthey can't just skip on paying either. It's actually really funny to watch non canadian companies come up against this stuff. So if they are in the wrong, prepare for some top teir entertainment.
