At the base level they're all equally deranged. It's the context that can make one worse than the other. For example, if your idol exploits you and actively seeks to make you more addicted and more deranged, then it's worse than if you were worshipping some inanimate objects such as fictional characters or imagery.

Fandom and religion literally involve the same parts of the brain and the same human psychology. For example, Apple. It's not just a consoomer megacorp, it's a cult with Steve Jobs as Jesus, and every Apple product being something magical instead of just overpriced trash, but if you tell an Apple fan that he will shun you for Heresy.
