For years now vtubers like Vei, Nyanners, Ironmouse, and Silvervale have been collabing with fleshstreamers and winning normal western stream watchers over to their side. If you watch Asmon's chat during the video you'll see everyone explaining how Vshojo is different and doesn't own vtuber's models like the evil JP companies. Big flesh streamers currently have no incentive to defend Hololive or Nijisanji's business practices because it's not like they're losing out on a chance to collab with them anyways. They'll always take the side of Vshojo or talent management companies like Mythic or MSM Talent that let vtubers keep their model over JP corpos.

Idol culture is what fueled vtubing as multimillion dollars industry, before Nijisnaji introduce the streamer culture and business model into vtubing, vtubers were pretty much a small niche of otakus and companies exploring and pioneering with new technology to act as anime characters, with Kizuna Ai as the face of vtubing.

After nijisanji become popular in Japan, specially on NicoNico, it was when .Live also introduced the Idol culture and business model, in another timeline they would have been Hololive, but they implode because of Sio and her slanders about the company.

After the .Live company imploded and lost all of its popularity, it was when Hololive copied their business model, that's the reason that the gen 1 and 2 and gamers, were never Idols to begging with, it was only when gen 3 was introduced that even the concept of gen was adapted to Hololive, and the concept of gen come from idol groups such as AKB48.

After Hololive by moving their streamers to Youtube and only leaving Sora in NicoNico, they created the cabaret culture of superchats that was pretty much copied from cabarets and idol meetings, that is when Hololive gained enormous popularity, and it became the norm for every other vtuber company.

It's only because Idol culture that vtubers are populars.
