She's self taught. She got older but most of the character of her voice from 2012 hasn't really dropped off. Rather she started singing in a more sustainable manner with better vocal technique, which means sticking closer to her natural register.

Also, I think what's throwing you off is that the early songs are heavily processed and multitracked to make them sound fuller, hence why her vocals have a very glossy "chorus" sound. There's two or three vocal takes mixed together to give her voice more presence. But it also diminishes the presence of some of the natural overtones that a single voice sound "authentic".
