The trend began with a certain shark, who was a Debut TBA as well, gained a large following during the HoloEN honeymoon period via both leeching off the wave the EN girls had created, directly and indirectly, and going on a social media promotion blitzkrieg that may or may not have included paid shills and extensive money spent on commissions to make it seem like there was a naturally occurring fanbase coalescing around said shark. The problem is these new clout chasers only seem to have taken away from that example "If I go on twitter and say I am a vtuber, and make funny "I'm gay" tweets 23 times a day, I will obtain a huge following and be famous", which ignores a lot of factors that led to that popularity spike in the example case.

Its even funnier now that we have a lot of examples of TBAs debuting after running the twitter gauntlet, and the breakdown goes like this:
>2000+ Twitter followers
>100~ show up for your debut
>10 or less average regular viewers for subsequent streams

Twitter promotion does not work if you cant hold peoples attention, and has vastly lower impact than people seem to think it does on your streaming numbers, but people still waste countless hours trying to network and be funny on twitter instead of just, ynow, producing real content.

As long as you are producing content and not retweeting stuff for followers who won't watch you in the end, you are probably on the clear.

The problem were never the TBAs, the problem were certain types of people who became TBAs, played the social media game, got followers, and then fucked up their debuts because they never had any experience streaming. Over and over and over.

I would start pumping out content, networking, organizing and building a following in preparation for my debut right now if I could, but am instead only doing test streams to myself
Reason being is to do all that you need accounts, and those accounts have names, and I can't figure out a god damn name
I could just make up a random thing like all my accounts in the past, but I want an actual name people can pronounce and every name I've ever come up with in the past people have difficulty saying unless its a generic ass name and I dont wanna become a John Smith of the chuuba world
How the fuck do people come up with all these memorably distinct yet not disgustingly weird names?
I'm probably just gonna garble some sounds together like Gawr Gura by the end of the week if I can't find one

Have you already thought of some sort of theme? Most of the chuubas give themselves a pun name based on their theme. I know you shit on Guras dumb shark name, but there are also others that have a themed name. Infact pretty much all of the holos are named after a theme, just look at Watson, Mori, Robo-ko, Risu or even the season inspired names of Gen 1.

Nina is honestly an example of someone getting numbers trough sheer talent, she did her debut without any previous shilling just out of the blue, and grew strong ever since just by being so clean, incredible singing, good art and all.

How does one into music
From what I've seen, it seems practically all music by "individuals" you ever see is actually done by a team, where the singer that is publishing the music actually gets someone or multiple people to do everything else. I've seen some music people in the resource doc but how stuff actually all works is a mystery
I'm intending to get good at singing, some instruments and learning mixing/digital stuff too in time but it would be a long way off before I could ever think my own stuff is high quality, so as long as I can spit some decent lyrics out I wouldn't mind throwing a few hundred dollars to say I've got a good song behind me

I know you can implement some type of delay in OBS but if you press stop streaming after a yab has shown between that buffer time will it actually stop it being streamed?

Regarding JP vtubers themselves, are practically all their names just a random mix of JP words that would never have any reason to be in a real persons name just to be cool, sometimes with an engrish word? That's what it looks like from what I've seen, and I don't mind being a cringe westerner if the name fits my character when they're doing the same and ripping words for names from our language too
