Flare has always been a woman of strong moral character and she's a good judge of people. She's called the menhera whisperer for a reason, she's genuinely skilled and tactful at dealing with suffering people.

That being said, she can't stand people who lie or otherwise manipulate which, I believe, is why she had a bit of distaste for Ru-nee. It should be said though that we don't know what happens behind the scenes. Flare is also very professional so I can believe she had her emotions off screen so that she could come stream with a happy face. Another value of hers is providing a comfy, happy streaming experience and that would naturally interfere with it.

In the end, nobody but them will ever really know the truth of things. Flare dealt with it however she did and that's good enough for me.

I've been in this situation twice
One of my childhood friends had the same boyfriend since 8th grade, despite the fact they were obviously dysfunctional and the dude was emotionally abusive. Like he'd break up with her just to prove a point, and then she'd crawl back to him
Same happened with my sister, who 'fell in love' with a guy she met, and after a month she brought him to live with us. Every time they would fight, I'd hear it. The dude wasn't subtle with his insults either. He called her a crazy bitch, he told her he *could* been bad with her, that he had lots of girlfriend, and my mother rooted for him. All of this while he was a freeloader in our home. After one really ugly fight, I comforted her, told her to kick him out, but because of reasons she wouldn't. Next morning she told me 'I can't watch people suffer' and that's why she would try to make things work with him. Spoiler alert, things never got better between the two. I just had to give up. I can't care for someone who doesn't.
