What I do if I want to talk about this with somebody is I ease them into it without explicitly saying that I watch it.

I would respond to their question by saying "I don't know, let me look it up". I would then get back to them the next day and say "Hey, I looked up that Hololive thing and one of the results was this playboard site that tracks all kinds of youtube stats...look at this". I would proceed to show them the super chat list and tell them "so apparently all of these Hololive streamers make more money than pretty much anybody else on youtube, how crazy is that? I'm going to check them out to see what all the fuss is about".

This plants the seed into them that I am curious about this hololive thing without just blasting my power level out there. I'm just doing it because I'm curious about why they are so successful on youtube. After a while I would say to them "so after I checked out that Hololive thing after I showed you that list my entire youtube recommendation feed is nothing but Hololive shit. I was watching a little bit of it and these fuckers get tens of thousands of viewers a stream and are constantly getting super chats, it's crazy, you have to see it for yourself to believe it if you haven't already. The numbers they are putting up aren't niche at all, this is borderline mainstream and they are some of the biggest streamers on all of youtube. Most of them even put out original music too, its pretty wild. I can see why they are so popular".

After this there is no way they wouldn't be curious themselves and they will go check them out, if they haven't already. Boom, you have just turned them into a vtuber addict without explicitly admitting that you willingly watched them to begin with.
