do your reps then or use Live TL
use streams as an opportunity to increase your immersion and therefore improve
inb4 muh useless language
if everything in your life has to be valuable and productive, you wouldn't be watching streamers and posting on /vt/ in the first place. At least Japanese gets you closer to your chuuba and to a new culture.

Clips aren't inherently wrong. In fact, they're very beneficial to get eyes on a particular chuuba. As much as streamwatching is idolized here you objectively cannot deny that hours and hours of VODs is a harder point of entry than a 1-10 minute translated clip with all of the fat trimmed. Clips are also very convenient for people who don't have time to watch all their favorite chuubas (so that includes people with an actual life, who also tend not to browse this board) Just tune in to your oshi, watch clips of a couple chuubas you like, and you'll have more than enough entertainment.

The only issues with clips in particular is with either predatory clippers who rely on clickbait and sensationalism, or people who base their entire opinions on a chuuba on a couple clips (like people who flanderize Rushia as either pettan or NEEEEEEEEEEEE for example

Nothing.

There's going to be language barriers, and the only way to cross that is subs/translations.

It's not your fault Hololive doesn't hire subbers so they can create and monetize their own clips.

No one begrudges anyone for watching clips in isolation. It's when folks try to make authoritative statements when they only watch clips and tidbits and disregard the extra nuance that watching the full stream would bring. That just makes you look retarded.

>> No.6728659

An issue with clips is that clippers can't clip everything so what you see can be a bit limited or tunnel visioned. Back when clips weren't chruned out at such huge volumes daily you wouldn't know that Aqua can play games competently since you just mostly see her being dumb. That's how that dump EOP Baqua shit started. Not many knew of her trying to speed run From software games.

That's where you're wrong. Like it or not, the future of Vtubers is Spanish. Five years from now about 70% of Vtubers worldwide will be speaking Spanish, and other 20% English.

Clips are unironically done to create a narrative. Not necessarily a bad one but there's always intentions behind it.
Watch an actual vshojo stream for example, 99% of the content is just normal vtuber talk and chatting. Then 1% is sex and peepeepoopoo jokes, but guess which ones the clippers are clipping out?
Or if you're going to be a weeb, do the same but with Mea, for the most part she's just doing normal vtuber shit and singing. But she says she doesn't shower for 3 weeks 1 time and that's all people talk about. And now every clip from then on is about how gross and disgusting Mea is, even though she clearly just said it as a joke and almost never is that bad.

Autism.

Most her streams are fine though, people (and herself) always talk about the peepeepoopoo jokes, but usually she's more like that 1 cringe comedian guy I can't remember the name of.
The one who constantly just talks shit about himself and it gets annoying because every joke is "haha aren't i so cringe and pathetic XD"
she tries though so I still give her props for that. she seems to want to have actual comedy in her skits and not just vtuber shit.

>>6731341
sure, but there's other interesting parts. but the people who watch vshojo clips want to see peepeepoopoo, not how Melody can't say bagel.

>what's wrong with only watching clips?
The skinny on this one is that most clips take a single moment out of context and blow up in popularity, with all kinds of new people finding out about them for the first time through that clip. Which is great! But it has the side effect of expecting that same exact moment to define entirely who that person is. So for example some people only think of Matsuri as a menhera with a piss fetish because of clips, or Amelia as le toxic gamer ecks dee because of some angry moments she had, when there's a lot more to their personality and character than just those singular funny moments. And what ends up happening as a consequence to this, is that people will flood the chat with memes they heard during clips and it then becomes rather difficult to have real conversations with chat when it's just a constant stream of shitposting. A glorious example of this is when Pekora and Moona started interacting for the first time in Minecraft, everyone started spamming Moona's chat with "HEY MOONA" to the point where even she was like "I get it but stop spamming my chat or I will bonk you". It drives people to be inconsiderate that the streamer they're watching would actually like to be able to interact with the chat in a reasonable fashion, and in general the vtuber begins to amass "Fake fans" who don't even watch their streams but also want to give their input and "be cool" because "they know". There's also the other side of the coin where people will make clips to spin a narrative like "Miko's going on hiatus... that can only mean one thing... :(" to add more to the situation than what the streamer themselves actually put out there as fact. If you do only watch clips, I just strongly suggest for you to have a brain about it and understand you're only getting a very small snippet of who the streamer is, and that translations can be very inaccurate depending on the whims of the clipper.

>> No.6734746

I mostly just watch clips.
Because I'm never able to watch streams due to their timing and having to work for a living.
Plus better things to do.

>> No.6735018

Nothing, people just like to act like elitists. The majority of the people that argue this watch clips anyway as they don't actually speak Japanese aside from a few phrases, but are ashamed and want that sweet online weaboo credit.

>> No.6735361

shameful
I don't claim to know japanese but after more than 8000 episodes of anime my monkey brain has become familiar with the language.
at this point I can understand some things here and there and it is plenty to watch full JP streams.

other holofags got you covered though, as most hololive streams will have some fag translating what the streamer is saying into english and holodex offers a service that filter the rest of the chat out so you basically have subtitles for the stream.

you have no excuse being a clip-only.
