Start as barebones as possible with pngtubing (or even use a free live2d model) to test if you even enjoy streaming before worrying about spending larger amounts. Its a combination of 2 things.

1. Average number of viewers are down slightly. (School and work breaks are over from the holidays)

2. Lots of people made new years resolutions to stream more or start streaming now. More streams = lower average CCV

Attached is data from sullygnome to support my conclusion. More channels streaming. Slightly fewer viewers. Much lower peak viewers. These factors likely hurt small channels more than larger ones.

There are ways to get good numbers with collabs, but you have to put work into it. Things like interviews, game shows, collaborative drawing. That kind of thing can do very well. Just playing a game with a friend removes the great majority of why people watch small streamers without adding much at all.

That's a yes and a no. Live2D CAN be better if rigged properly with a good design but takes a long ass time to produce new outfits for it or it may require a redraw or rerig. Meanwhile 3D models can be easy to fuck up but rigging it is easier and once rigged add new outfits and accessories to it is much easier.
