I always wondered why orange lady gets so much hate on this board considering from a cursory glance she seems to check most boxes people want from a female streamer.

Regular streams

speaks Japanese and regularly works with the jp branch

She's nice to Gura so she's won over many fans who value the insight they get from Kiara's interactions with her.

Kiara herself was sad she wasn't welcomed in Gura's channel by chatters, but afaik that changed, and now I think most people like Kiara/tolerate Kiara.

There isn't that much hate toward Kiara anymore. Kiara admitted the jealousy and emotional distance that everyone suspected she harbored, and now things are better. Kiara is calmer now that she managed to get Nerissa accepted as her fan into EN. She never got over the Okayu/Gura situation and had to remedy it. She needed someone to constantly praise her and now her mood has improved.

I'd say Gura has taken over more of the antis now in holoEN, let's ask them why hate an inactive Gura.

The way she has treated her fans over the last year+ is completely at odds with the entire point of getting invested in a vtuber in the first place, at least in Hololive, can't speak for fan interactions in other companies. You can't spend your first 2 years cultivating and farming gachi's and then continually lie to them, break promises, and eventually completely throw them away like they mean nothing without some of those people hating her guts for it after.

I just think the model is really ugly and has weird, uncanny expressions. It's the second worst EN model after Irys. The orange color palette is also repulsive. I do love her songs, I've been listening to Do U a lot, but I just don't like watching her. In collabs, she's okay, but I don't think she stands out in any way.

It's usually a case of a few of these supposed negative traits turning people off from her quickly more than it is being annoyed by every single one.
I love my Wawa but had to take a break when she released her album because for months she had (and admitted to having) a very negative mindset at the time and it leeched into all of her content. The final straw was a members stream with her drawing. She spent the first 45 minutes upset about a myriad of things with no laughing, no happy thoughts, just bitter and angry reactions to everything from her album, to her tech not working well, to her 2 hat original design. I couldn't take it, turned off the stream, and unmembered. I normally am fine with some of her 'telling it straight' emotional moments because they're interspersed between 4 hours of goofy Wawa moments, but that stream was misery incarnet.
I've since come back with the new year and she's 100% worked on it and I'm glad to see she decided to finally take that detox break she'd been talking about for a year and a half. Wawa cute. Still waiting on that Nedoroid though.

As someone who was /here/ since before the Myth debut, I can tell you that she had some pretty annoying habits when she started. She fangirled about Peko constantly, she translated basically everything she said in Japanese (making her hard to follow), she tended to not work well in collabs (especially considering how her other genmates were so introverted), she had a crappy mic, the list goes on.
Those issues meant that she wasn't well liked in /hlgg/ (or, later, /vt/), to that add a lot of 2views who had tried for auditions and failed, seething that their chance was "stolen" by this orange woman that didn't have any special talent and trolls and haters that saw her sub count was lagging behind and so was the easiest target and you can imagine how much shitposting there was about her, so much so that hating her became a meme.
In time, she managed to fix almost all of her issues, but the momentum that her hate gained in those first few months was such that she will always remain a favourite target to shitpost about.
