Its not simply because of "unicorns", people who watch small vtubers watch them to interact with the vtuber and collabs rob them of that.
Add to the mix someone who they definitively not care about and they will immediately turn the stream off.
Do this several times and people will just choose to watch someone else

Another big debuff is playing games their like instead of games their audience would like to see them play.
Sure you love Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing but your mostly male audience doesnt want to see you play that shit.
They want to see you react and enjoy games they like. Think always of your viewers first.

People are very, very tolerant with female vtubers being bad at streaming, but there is a limit. You have to show improvement at least after a year, else they feel they are backing the wrong horse. Always remember: streams aren't your content, clips are. People who watch your streams are deliberately choosing to support you out of their good will, abuse this goodwill, and they will be gone.

Acting "like a bitch" will kill your growth faster than any male collabs will ever do, and you just have to do it once. For an example look at the recent debacle with sigrid and bird. No one wants to support a bad person, either with money or with views. Everyonie who watches you after that is just literally a groomer who wants to get into your pants, and in the end, this will be the audience you actually deserve to have.

Issue:

-Just chatting social app type of stream. The stream has moments that shift focus from the game to the audience. This makes the footage of the gameplay less usable, and due to the game, and the focus on the game it makes participation as a audience member less enjoyble.
By teeter tottering between game, and chat messages you degrade the quality of both gameplay, and social engagement.

-there is no focus, or attention given to the VOD watcher. It's almost as if the vtuber assumes that anyone who tunes in is a sucker, and nobody would be a big enough of a gentic failure to bother watch their VOD.

-Overall this vtuber does not stream with the viewers best interest in mind, and could use a lot of work on mindfulness of others.

Two main types of mods.
1) Mod of male streamer that is also his close friend, they sometime party up in video game. These are cool.
2) Mod of female streamer + also the IT guy and event organizer + avid typer but talks exclusively to his waifu, cold to everyone else. They ruin streams.
But like the above said, they are mostly just bloat and better to not have one at all.
