Just over a week after her announcement, IRyS is almost halfway to a golden shield. This is the power of a good singer, huh?

Azki isnt bad but IRyS has the EN buff. Both have lovely voices

AZKi's a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed her black/white singles a lot compared with her album releases. IRyS is alright but she can be better. 'HERE COMES HOPE' is a good example that she should try out more types of genre instead of idolpop which I feel that Cover would force her to do more of. And yes, the Attacca version is the better version of Caesura of Despair.

Sorry for numberfagging, but how many subscribers had HoloEN in the same time frame as when IRyS debuted?

>>6588236
Sure, but it’s also opinion. My opinion is that Gura sounds better than IRyS (by comparing them both singing ‘Fly me to the moon’). That’s not a attack on IRyS, but simply a preference. My issue with IRyS is that she sounds decent but somewhat generic. I don’t see much difference in range between low and high between them either, as IRyS simply starts with a higher pitched voice than Gura.

aside from Gura who was an anomaly because of /HER/ boost, everyone else were around the 100k mark before they debuted. At the moment, IRyS' subcount is increasing at a rate slightly slower than Gura's rate in her first month.

IRyS was a bit bigger than 100k in the past, but not as big as Senzawa, or with as many viral videos as Senzawa. IRyS did have one big viral video in her past, but that was uncommon. Still not as bad as you may be thinking though.

Cover could literally announce a new vtuber is debuting, and set up a channel without even casting someone in the role and numberfags would still run around talking about how good this quite literal nobody is because bandwagoners flock to sub to the hot new thing out of Hololive.

I see. Though truth be told, I've only listened to one cover from her past life just to get a feel of how she sings, but it wasn't one of the viral ones. It was okay but it didn't get me hooked. Now that IRyS has the resources to fund her creative freedom, she can try out any type of songs that she feels that it would suit her.

Irys sounds like that VA who sings some anime OP that you always skip.

I mean, she's not bad, but for a vtuber who singing is supposed to be her main thing, she didn't even strike me as hard as Gura did.

In due time anon, I believe she can get better than she is at the moment. Whether she can be better than Gura however is a very subjective topic because neither sides will ever yield.

I really hope Cover doesn't chain Irys down so that she only pumps out generic music. They really need to pay attention to Mori's popularity and realize EOPniggers are where the money is and EOPniggers don't like idol pop that much.
Caesura of Despair(attacca ver.)is her best song but - and I hate to say it because I want the best for her - the rest is pretty skippable/generic anime music.
It is her first ever release under Cover so I know she has plenty of room to grow but it would have been nice to have some bangers out of the gate.

Ehh, not sure if I want IRyS to go down that route. Sure when Calli does it, it's an instant hit. But remember that her past life was already pretty big in the weebEOP scene and that she has already made a lot of original songs. Hell, I'd even add that she was also well-known at some point in the underground JP rap scene. They know that she can rap and shit good so putting her on the Holoplatform basically amplifies her successes by a lot.

IRyS on the other hand had been singing Japanese covers throughout her entire career. Yes, you can argue that she caters EOP now because that's in her job description. But I don't think that a complete switch in singing style and singing all EOP songs (in rap out of all things) would get her to be as famous as Calli. Hell no, Calli deserves to have that popularity all to herself because she earned it. There are other types of EOP's out there that don't necessarily fancy Calli's songs but could somewhat get into IRyS'. That is where she should focus in the long term. At the same time, she should continue singing Japanese because I feel that she feels more confident in singing in that language. Idolpop is here to stay whether you like it or not because she is representing Cover as an idol unlike Calli who represents Cover as a streamer.

Also man, how could you diss 'HERE COMES HOPE'? That shit is myth & roids level of hype. Anime music yes but generic hell no. Seeing IRyS taking those steps into making songs that aren't idolpop is already a good sign that more songs that aren't poppy will come along with the usual idolpop.

I just get tired of getting hyped up for an EN song and then I press play and it's 90% japanese. Even Gura and Kiara have this issue (minus Sparks). At least with Mori she blends it in well so even if she sings a lot in Japanese it's balanced out with English.

As for genre I just wish they could expand a little bit. Everything has to be pop or rap. I just happen to like rap a bit more so I can stand that but why not country or rock music or something?

All of Gen 2 will get these kind of numbers. You're not gonna even notice much difference in their rate of growth until they're over 400k.

I can definitely see IRyS do rock. Though it'd be more pop rock than punk rock. There's nothing else we can do but hope for the best in IRyS' career progression.

>> No.6590652

IRyS pretty much just did anime music covers before. That's kind of her thing. There is no chaining down to be had at this point, it's just that she needs to grow her own personal style from here on out.

>Whether she can be better than Gura however is a very subjective topic because neither sides will ever yield.
You can compare them for yourself though. They both sang “fly me to the moon.” I think most people believe Gura is better by comparison. I think if they picked someone significantly better than IRyS, most people would accept that she was better. She just doesn’t seem to be.

>but for a vtuber who singing is supposed to be her main thing, she didn't even strike me as hard as Gura did.
Gura has a lot of soul or emotion in her voice when she sings. People tend to have difficulty evaluating the value of this for a singer, but it is apparently of some great value. I felt similar, on that Gura truly grabs my attention.
