Go to the channel you just got gifted a sub to and type "snack" and one of their emotes!
Your concept is fascinating and pretty educational on a type of music most people are decently ignorant about. I wouldn't really recommend multistreaming to anyone since it historically hurts more than it helps when you don't focus on a single audience. Take a look at Meat, R&C, and Feef for examples of this and what happened when they chose one platform after. Twitch is traditionally the better platform for starting from 0 but your singing is especially good for shorter edited youtube videos after the stream is over. Since your content revolves entirely around your voice I would say the biggest piece of your budget should go to improving your mic! You have a nice voice and seem well trained, so let your hardware benefit you. If you haven't done Trimble reps it will only help you from here. Your content is highly niche so you will have to work hard to reach a wide audience, but since you're musician I'm sure you're already familiar with that. Just keep getting more experience in and you'll learn how to appeal what you want to do to viewers, mostly you'll need a lot of social media legwork and invite people to listen to live music instead of fully relying on the algo to push you. Ganbare young chuuba, feed the chickens everyday for a clear mind

Thank you very much! Besides barbershop, I'll be doing classical as well (which is what I'm actually trained for, barbershop is just for fun) and reading streams. I'll do gaming as well, but don't plan to make that the focus of my channel.

Truthfully I chose YouTube to start because I'm simply more familiar with it than I am with Twitch. I'll get to know them both better as I go, though as you pointed out, YouTube is helpful for posting songs into a playlist.

i stopped by for a bit to watch and your dancing is really nice! I think my biggest gripe is that your body part clips through the model fairly regularly which looks awkward; this was very noticeable during moves where you're down on the floor with your legs
i know that there's a lot of limitations to 3D so i don't know if just getting like better trackers or something would remedy it but the dancing itself is really good
one thing that i could think of is the when you get affiliate to add channel point redeems to affect your dancing stage maybe? you're mostly silent during the dance so having some way for the audience to interact with you would be cool

Hello /asp/ it's been a long time. I think I'm finally happy with where I am. I've stopped being jealous of the new, agency vtubers that are coming out, and I can finally enjoy others' content again.
I know now that my fanbase is a unique one, and I don't have to "be" like a vtuber to keep them around. All I have to be is myself and do what I think is fun ( which is to make art, music and skits). No agency or "large number" or even money will ever be able to give me the same feeling of community.

Sorry for this weird vague post. I just really wanted somewhere to let this out.

Thanks for the advice. I feel like I'm trying to achieve something completely different. I'm trying to dance competitively in this new medium so there is this artistic passion to it. I have the chance to get affiliate because a big streamer raided me once but I don't think there's a point is doing so this way considering I can't keep any viewers. I also worry that taking money would corrupt my art but I think that's probably just me being stubborn. Right now I think my biggest problem is viewer retention and viewer interaction which probably goes hand in hand. I wonder how I would achieve viewer interactions to a comfortable level for me because a part of me don't want it to interrupt my dance but at the same time I know that without viewer interactions they would not stay.

Yes I have. That's one part. Another part wonders if I need to feel obligated to have an obnoxious pop up on stream when ever someone follow/donate/subscribe and give them a shout out scream "THANK YOU" while I am dancing because I'm not sure if I want that for the sake of money. The best compromise I can think of is use an overlay and have the popup happen somewhere in the overlay and do the shoutout between songs. The next problem would be redeems and what redeems would I be comfortable with such that it doesn't interrupt my performance but allows viewer interactions.

I started back in February from 0 and I do agree that it can be demoralizing, especially if you don't click with other chuubas early on. When I started, I was able to talk to a couple of chuubas around my size if not a little bigger or smaller and they would reply to my posts consistently.
I used to do those kinds of "reply for x" kinds of posts with stuff like tarot readings or other silly things and that got people to notice me a little bit
Visiting /wvt/ and talking with a lot of the chuubas there also helped a lot once I started doing that; a lot of people there are very friendly and it feels a lot easier to talk with them imo
Don't give up though! Sometimes you'll have slow days or weeks, but sometimes you'll make a tweet that pops off a little bit and while followers on Twitter don't really translate to viewers, it's always nice to get a little notice

When I've commissioned, I've had a few things:
- a .txt document on the lore/background of the character. This is in as plain English as possible, because I've found Filipino artists tend to be better prices, but their English is ESL
- a .txt explaining what I'm after, and what I want from each of...
- MSPaint sketch of the poses I want
- Quite a few sample pieces. Name them each something unique, not hbzdbdkjb1
=> Any specific clothing you're after, such as armour, or robes, find an example
=> Specific tones (such as 'I want to look grubby', or 'I want to look like a kid's cartoon character')
=> If you can pull together a (shitty) composite, then it might be worth considering. Just to give them a better idea

Alternatively, a very brief overview, and then "But you're the artist, just make it look [cool]"

In 2019 she basically had 15+ a majority of the year, probably due to being part of some community which is always good for streaming since you've got a good base. From then on she had 20+ viewers.

It's likely she was apart of some communities, maybe singing or voice acting ones that got a lot of people watching her from the start, but to say she was just a 2-view on her grind for a year+ is disingenuous.

I'm currently streaming using a png. Things are going alright, but I've seen a few mutuals (mostly female) skyrocket in the same time. Most are artists, or bought an expensive model and rig.

I could currently afford a cheap model and rig, either L2D or vroid. But it would certainly be a lower-tier one.

On the nontechnical side: Your diction is good. Your voice really fits the "professor" theme and is nice to listen to. I don't know much about the subject but you sound knowledgable without being a smartass. That's the first time I've heard someone recite a poem since high school, and it's really nice.

On the technical side: I'd say at the beginning your sound was a bit low but once you started the poem it was better. Still, you should probably try to raise it. Try looking into restream bot to reproduce the chat messages from one platform to another (like pic related, I saw that on a livestream unrelated to vtubers). Youtube crashed at some point

Thanks for the stream and have a great night too!

Thanks! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the actual hearing of the poem itself. I think too many people get scared away from poetry as the result of bad experiences in school, because really, it's very accessible and fun. I've got a lot of experience writing about poetry, and I love to try to de-mystify it for people, so hearing that from you really makes my night. Thank you!

As for the technical side, I had tried to balance beforehand, but will raise it for next time. I made note of where it was.

For restream, I think I'm going to have to look into how to work that better, and do some test streams set to private to work out those kinks. I thought I had it set up to duplicate chat messages, but I think I got it wrong, or at the very least it didn't go right. I kept getting messages saying that either Twitch or Youtube was offline at various points, so I'll have to figure that out. I wish it was easier to stream to both. Twitch is definitely the bigger platform for the average streamer, but a lot of my content is better suited to Youtube, so it puts me in a bit of a pickle.

I really appreciate the feedback. Lots to work on and improve, but I'm getting my content out there, and it feels great that even a few people are enjoying it.

So I'm a pretty new streamer, literally a month in today.

Don't shell out for anything other than the basics until you've dipped a toe in and tried it.

Think if you took a leaf out of Cumrag's book, and spent 4K on a model, on top of whatever the animations, BGM, and other miscellany cost. You'd pretty much feel forced to stream until you make it back.

Meanwhile, I've spent $25 on a PNG. So if I end up disliking it, or being shit and not worth watching, then it's just the cost of picking up a hobby I then dropped anyway, or a game on not amazing offer.

That said, you need a minimum quality, and even audio filters only come so far to help with that.

What? Why would an agency be illegal? Are you planning on taking out the competition?

>cost
Depends what you want it to do. If it's just basic PR, then the cost of a PR intern. If you want 24/7 coverage, then the cost of 4 full time employees.
If you want lawyers and artists on payroll, then you'll need to add them in too.

If you want the agency to be useful, then I'd guess you'd need
- Video editor/clipper (probably only one, depending on how many streamers you have)
- PR shill (probably only one, maybe more depending on overlap. You can schedule Tweets and YT posts, and they can spam discords/reddit
- Artist/Rigger - if you want the entire agency to look similar, you'd probably want a single artist/rigger pair, but then you'd have them queuing with each other, which might cause delays.
- Manager (probably one/two). Organizes streaming times, reaches out for external collabs, sponsorships, pre-release games for hype building
- Lawyer to fuck people up

Is streaming to YouTube really that bad? Or is it just that Twitch is much better?

youtube has literally 0 discoverability and you are entirely at the mercy of the algorithm
twitch has filters by game, tags, vtubers have their own private tag, and twitch culture highlights raiding and hosting to pass your viewers to someone else as you end your stream so there's a higher chance of someone bigger than you ending and passing their viewers onto you

both. Youtube is where indies go to die.

Thanks. I think I associate vtubers with YouTube, since it's in the name and all, and I'm very unfamiliar with twitch, since I don't really watch streamers outside of vtubers (who are on YouTube). I can see how those twitch features would be especially beneficial for someone starting out.

Just do it. Find or commission a png, get a free trial for photoshop and separate the layers, and rig it in Live2d. Live2d seems intimidating but it's actually not that hard to use at all.

Thaks everyone for the critics, i started working on the design again. I suck at designing characters and clothing but hopefully i can end up with something decent. If not then i would have to save to pay someone to redesign her in the future.

An easy upgrade is to use an animal that fits your personality. Are you tired and slow, like a koala? Got lots of energy and grace like a gazelle? Maybe you love pranking people and shiny stuff like a magpie? Adding animal features and doing some research on the animal makes for a decent twist on most standard designs, including vampires.

I am pretty sure a great artist could make that work but i don't think i can pull it off. At this point i think i have given up on originality and instead i just want something decent enough.

I'd definitely be into that.

Speaking of, would it be any sort of faux pas to cover a song by a graduated Vtuber? I want to play Senzawa's I Wanna Be a Cowboy. Like, the etiquette is just not to link graduates to their new lives, yeah? Otherwise, kinda anything goes?

To add to this, I want to use Hina Misora as an example: she started with an absolute potato of a PC, and said on stream she was worried people would grow bored of her because all she could do was zatsudans. People stayed in spite of the tech difficulties and she eventually got a baked potato PC that she can upgrade down the line.

Pick your favorite game. The one you've wanted your friends to try, but they all refuse. The one you know loads of little tricks for.

Play it.

But play it slowly. Explain why you're taking each decision, and what the other decisions you could take would do. Imagine your audience don't know the subject at all, so you need to cover things in quite a bit of detail.

Don't pick pokemon, but if you did, you'd explain, before getting the starter, what the first couple of gyms are, and so why each one is easy/medium/hard mode; or why you like the design of one the most don't say it's because you want to fuck it.

Narrate things in your standard life, but in your head (don't look like a schizo).

Think about what you could choose to say to add to sentences, so that they extend a bit more, and you're filling the time with effectively just waffle and human noises, as that keeps your viewers listening. Go off on slight tangents if it's one you can keep going on - tangents are interesting, because all straight lines in a two-dimensional plane are either tangential to each other, or parallel. They will either cross once and then get further apart, or stay the same distance, but never ever touch. But going into three dimensions, it's possible for them to be semi-tangential, but not actually intersect.

That was a lazy segue. And it wasn't smooth. But I could keep going on three-dimensional space and flatland because I'm a math nerd, and dimensional interplay is fascinating.

Comedians on panel shows can be good - watch the English Mock the Week, especially the buzzer section. They get given a prompt, and have to tell a story. But they often end up going through hoops to get it:
Prompt: Family
"Don't you hate family dinners? My aunt always brings hummus, but I'm allergic to chickpeas. Learning this, when I was dating a Lebanese girl [story about a disaster date not linked to 'family' at all]

Silhouette is important in character design and can be used as an aspect to make it more unique when the concept isn't. It is also important for targeting the audience you want. In your second batch, the silhouette is especially baggy and has unflattering proportions. If you want it to be more sexy, then choose clothes or proportions that complement the body best. Cuter characters have baggier clothes, but still have nice proportions. The shape of the skirts and the big jacket and sleeves obscure the body and don't have very eyecatching proportions. If you want to exaggerate one thing a lot, I suggest making other things smaller or not there at all. I made a quick sketch of a design that I think has a more unique and appealing silhouette. Design is really difficult and there's a lot of things to consider that you don't even think of but affect the overall impression by a lot. I'm rooting for you anon! Hope to see you thrive.
