Sorry i took a nap so I couldn't leply, but if you don't even read BL then how do you know they don't have good plot? Sure, there's heaps of trashy BL but that's true for literally any genre out there. Really good BL explores male homosexuality through a lot of different lenses: sexual deviancy, underground counter culturalism, non sexual romance etc. I read it because I find those depictions of relationships between men interesting since that is something that I may never have for myself but at the same time, being a man, I can relate to some of the more platonic themes of brotherhood and camaraderie you'll see sometimes. Hmm I imagine the plant does effect his diet a bit. Bubbies already have mild cannibalistic tenancies so those are likely increased in a Bubby with a carnivorous plant but Bubbies are smart enough to not hunt members of their own species exclusively. A carnivorous Bubby will be more likely to engage in cannibalism when starving then a standard Bubby but would not hunt a Bubby normally. He would need increased meat intake to insure his plant is healthy however no plant matter in his diet would cause health issues. He is a Bubby and Bubbies are omnivores the plant does not change that. His plant likely makes up for most of the diet change by catching bugs. I'd say a normal bubby has about a 50/50 diet of plant and meat while a carnivorous Bubby would have 30/70 plant to meat ratio but functionally 45/55 since their plants can catch bugs and maybe super small animals if they have a big enough plant. I have put way more thought into Bubby biology then I ever expected when the design was revealed. I have been debating if mushroom Bubbies could exist since mushrooms aren't technically plants but could theoretically end up in a Bubby egg causing a mushroom Bubby to form. I also need to make some aquatic Bubbies since that is a thing that could happen though rarely do to it being harder to survive in such an environment.

They would also eat their own dead so long as their mushroom isn't poisonous as why let good meat go to waste. Fungal Bubbies would likely make better pets do to a far more passive nature but keeping alone would be frowned upon as they are highly social while standard Bubbies don't care til later in life. Keeping them in general would likely be frowned upon as they could only occur by accident or when born into a fungal community leading to a low population which sucks as they'd be an effective clean up crew for nature much like the mushrooms inhabiting them.
