It's funny, because if you knew anything at all about the history of Christmas, you'd know that it being a sex holiday is probably closer to the truth.
Chistmas isn't Jesus' birthday. There is not a single line of text in any of the Gospels or in any other historical document that says what day or even what year Jesus was born. The Gregorian Calendar wasn't even a thing back then anyway.
In 350 AD, Pope Julius I chose December 25 as the day for Christmas and the most historically accepted reason is because it alligned with the winter solstice and because it replaced a holiday at the end of Saturnalia called dies Natalis Solis Invicti, which revolved around the high amount of sun worship in the Roman Empire at the time. Saturnalia was a 7 day period of parties between December 17-23.

The days are the shortest during the winter solstice and that means that more people would have been stuck inside with nothing to do back then. Even today, people definitely have more sex during winter and there are more births in August/September than there are in any other months.
Christmas is a de facto sex holiday because humans have always had the most sex during this time than any other time of the year.

Of course people visit family during this time as well, but anyone in a relationship would want to spend the end of December with their partner. I'm sure that most people in long distance relationships for example, would make a concerted effort to meet up and spend time together because it's much more convenient to travel now when everything else is shut down.
