in Japan christmas is almost 1-1 their Valentine's Day. it's not a family holiday, it's the couple's day. why that is, I mean off the bat they're not christians so didn't have anything actually to celebrate on that day, and two apparently random marketing people in Japan just saw an opportunity to adapt and appropriate a Western holiday for profit (hence their notion that for some reason KFC is christmas food etc).

It was just Nagasaki and more importantly, when a bomb that kills only about 130k people kills 95% of Christians in your country, you don't have a lot of Christians. Not to mention, Oppenheimer had no decision-making power over where the bombs were dropped, he wanted them dropped on Germany. Hiroshima was targetted specifically because it was left untouched during the war and thus was the perfect testbed for being able to gauge the bomb's maximum damage it can inflict, and Nagasaki was picked because it was one of the few industrial centers in Japan that hadn't already been reduced to ash outside of the ones in Hokkaido.
