I followed one up and coming idol group who looked like they could make it. Got major label debut, under Victor. They got one album and a couple of EPs and then the rug got pulled and everything imploded in backroom disputes. Another soloist got one major digital single release after years grinding in a boutique label and then dropped back down to indies,
In the big corpo world it's not enough to be objectively profitable, you have to be as profitable or more than whatever else is in the company stables or you get the chop.
Meanwhile another group I followed got a major debut under Sony and now they're doing multiple anime openings, and they're not even a big name like AKB.

You can't write up a shitty, vague and loophole-filled contract larping as an idol company when you live somewhere like the US. Companies like hololive are actually set up like REAL companies with lawyers involved and adhere to the laws of each country the talents are from.
The best way to keep a bunch of talents happy is to actually know what you're doing, or otherwise your corpo is no better than an indie group.

Prism selling to Sony was the worst thing to happen to them. During Prism's old days, it was on par with Phase and Kawaii at the time when the 3 were competing against each other. Kawaii lost talents, and Prism sold itself to Sony. It was evident that Prism already had some management issues, but it only got worse after Sony. Just this year Nijisanji got caught out not having any EN legal team. kawaii is used to known for pulling talents from who knows where and giving them a chance. They can come from people outside of the "known" indie circles and clique. I think it was the choice of their former CEO as well. Every gen, there's straight up one girl with none or almost no streaming experience. It created a diverse group of girls and while their chemistry and "unity" aren't strong at the start, it's nice to see them getting to know each other over time. After getting burn so many times, they straight up stopped doing that now. The CEO who was making that hiring choice isn't there anymore as well
